OK I feel bad now.

What I'd do. Delete everything from my iTunes music library, select all and hit delete. Then File | Add to library and point it at your network drive.
I'd let iTunes organise my Music as databases are a good thing. You might think you can do better and are welcome to try.

For the last time Jack

I DONT WANT ITUNES TO DEAL WITH, SORT, HANDLE, LOOK. OR EVEN HINT AT ANY ASSOCIATION WITH MY MP3'S

I want a folder when opened shows a list of mp3's i can copy drag drop delete UNDER MY CONTROL, not some half baked attmpt at a media centre
which due to its incessant software ***** waving, wants to be the top dog

P1, from what i can see it's looking in two places to find the file...

Artwork from one location, the other, the daft ***** waving file structure/ location/ conversion that itunes has got its hand on

Jack if you want to call me a liar go ahead.

When i'm on the server i will post screen shots showing folders empty of Mp3's but containing the artwork

If you'd spend more time learning about technology you use rather than moaning you'd know that iTunes is nothing more than an XML file that knows the location of your music. That's YOUR files Mart, organise them however you like, keep them where you like. If they're not where you left them and you didn't tell iTunes to organise your music then you've moved them or deleted them. Simple.

I let iTunes organise my music and guess what? It puts all of my music neatly into a folder called iTunes music, under that folder is the Artists name and under that the Album. I can drag and drop as much as I like, grab the whole folder and give it to a mate if I like.

Well I tried to help.

Here's the thing Mart. Even if you told iTunes to consolidate your library it copies the files, it doesn't move them. The fact that WMP knows where the files are but iTunes doesn't kind of points the finger at WMP.

If I were you I'd open WMP and at a guess Properties on a track to find it's location. Once you know it's location you can add those tracks to iTunes - without changing their location.

Look on the bright side, at least you don't have to listen to Celine Dion anymore!

The WHOLE of that song list is totally gay.

Gotta agree with Jack on this one - looks like WMP has been up to something

Your both wrong

Itunes cant see jack, and i can see any folder its attempted to create anywhere..

WMP for its faults, can at least see the files and play them, there location remains a mystery however.

And prhaps you should listen to a bit of Celine Dion or Duran Duran,

It might broaden your horizons

LOL at anyone suggesting listening to Celine Dion to broaden their horizons. The most middle of the road, commercially cynical and utterly bland excuse for music in the whole world and it will broaden my horizons

As for the Duranies I was their the first time round and they weren't that great then

I reckon iTunes has a taste filter and has found your Celine Dion collection and deleted your entire music catalogue in the name of musical taste

I have a Celine Dion single in my collection. I feel better now. In my defence it's a remix and you'd never know it was her... actually there is no defence.

You're looking for your files using Windows Explorer? No wonder you can't find anything.

Open a command prompt and do the job properly:
cd f:\mp3
f:
dir /s *.mp3>mp3list.txt

A single is just the thin end of the wedge... next it will be a best of and then before long you will be buying every track availble on iTunes and making a beeline to Vegas to watch her yell live

Let me guess, the theme to the Titanic movie, great analogy for Mart360, his music collection was fine until it hit the iTunes iceberg...

LOL but the gigs were great for pulling, Hammy Odeon back in 82 for the Rio tour was 5 young teenage girls to every young teenage boy, no problem with the gigs but I drew the line at the pixie boots and mascara

I have some ticket stubs at home from many gigs at various venues between 81-86 and none of them were more than £3.50 a ticket, unlike todays ridiculously over priced gigs.
