ACT clutch and flywheels
Hi Bren,
How much stiffer is the pedal feel on the extreme organic 6 speed?
Looking for a new clutch at the moment as my current setup (AP Plate/stock cover) isnt up to my new engine spec (aprox 480lbft).
I dont want a paddle clutch as the car is 95% road use, but is used for a few sprints during the year, so weighing up the options in organic at the moment.
cheers
john

SB4 XTSS Xtreme Org WRX STI EJ20 02-05 V8-9 JDM £629.00 565lb/ft
SB4-HDG6 HD 6pad sprung WRX STI EJ20 02-05 V8-9 JDM £549.00 660lb/ft
The XTSS uses a high clamping force cover with an organic plate. It means that the pedal will be stiff to press but the bite will be nice and progressive and the clutch will have a long lifespan.
The HDG6 uses a cover with a lower clamping force menaing the pedal will be lighter and easier to press but uses a paddle plate meaning the biting point will be sharper and if you slip the clutch a lot then the life will be much shorter than the equivilent organic
If you are drag racing then Id go for the paddle as they are much better equipped at handling hard starts and you arent far off the torque capabilities of the XTSS.

Yes the parts are interchangeable. The paddles wear faster if you drive them like an organic and slip them a lot. If you just let the clutch engage fully to get the car rolling then give the car throttle to pull off properly then they arent too bad.
However theres no question that the organic is nicer to drive day to day.
The organic plate alone is £174.

If not , how long would it take to get one ?
Thanks

The clamping force is 54% heavier than standard so the pedal is significantly heavier.
I believe we still have the Exedy twin plate kits at the special price of they are of interest

John if your going with an ACT clutch you only need the heavy duty pressure plate and that coupled with a 500lbs clutch plate will do you, I had one in mine and it coped with 530lbs and the pedal feel is quite normal.

I have the SB4-XTSS and have to say it's awesome. Brilliant clutch for the price, pedal slightly stiffer than stock but still very manageable
Could be better suited towards abuse than the HDSS possibly for your sprints?

Engine is currently being built and will be used for trackdays/weekend driving and probably a bit of drag action too.....
Engine is a 2.65 with a 35R Billet turbo....

Id go for the SB4-XTG6 Xtreme 6pad sprung WRX STI 02-05 V8-9 JDM £579.00 725lb/ft
Its not going to be the nicest clutch to drive with but its the best behaved single plate kit youll find.
