Rallying for Help for Heroes
Thanks to everyone's hard work, blood, sweat and tears the car made it to the 1st event!!!
:
The car left scoobyclinic at 3.15am Sunday morning with only dyno miles under it's belt and no real world testing, so what better way of a shake down than the Tour of Epynt 2012!
The car ran the morning session on boost setting 1 as Chris the driver obviously had had no time in the car getting used to it thus completing the 1st stage carefully, making sure everything was settling in ok.
The afternoon session saw the boost turned up to setting 2, Chris commented on just how good the car was running at this point, again slowly raising the power for the driver to get to grips with a untested car!
Later that afternoon Chris swithced the car to boost setting 3 and was flying, literally! At one point the car was totally airborne and Chris was amazed at how well the car flew! Now I know these guys are used to working with RAF Typhoons all day so when they said fly that's what they meant! "When airborne the car just glides throught the air with no pitch or roll,it's so well balanced if it had wings we would be flying!!
The car finished the event unscathed and giving the driver invaluable experience ready for the next round

Well done to everyone involved, lets see what round 2 has in store!

Yes the rally car got sorted in the nick of time!! Massive thanks to Kev, Pat, Steve and Beef for pulling another massive late night to ensure we made it to Wales and the first round!! The car pretty much performed faultlessly!! A massive achievment considering she had very little rolling road time, no road testing and Sgt Chris Daykin only drove her for the first time on Special Stage 1!! There where 112 cars competing in the first round, we were car 76. Finished the event 49th overall and 8th in class!! Not too be sniffed at considering the machinery that went home on a trailer during the event. 6 World cars and 6 cars in our Class!! Some 40 something retirements. Tour of Epynt is a notorious car breaker of a rally so to have our car complete it without a scratch is fantastic!! A true tribute to Scoobyclinic's work ethic and dedication!! Now on to the next round in the Isle of Man where the car will be truelly on song!! Look out the competition, we are coming to wipe some smiles of people's faces and do the boys at the clinic proud!!
1st Post on the forum.
I have the great and humbling privilege to be the one to pilot this machine.
I can't express my thanks and admiration for Kev and the Team at Scooby Clinic.
I will write a full report and try not to bore you all but I am still on a high from last Sunday when she had her maiden voyage around Epynt in South Wales.
We finished building and checking the car at 3am on the Sunday and then I towed it South Wales and it was sat on the start line 6 hours later.
To build a car of this quality in the time it took with having never built a rally car was a monumental effort. If anyone doubts the talents of the Team of Chesterfield then I will happy to have a chat.
Launching a new car at full power off the line with a 7 mile Tarmac stage ahead can only mean 100% trust in the engineering skills of the builders.
Assisted by "Clunsey" one of our Team mechanics and RAF Project leader nothing was left short of 100%. Mark and Andy (The engine guys) really showed their true talents. Steve stayed with the project from start to the finish - yes, helping us load it onto the trailer. Dale in the paint department made it look as well as it went. Beef was fantastic with his knowledge and expert help on advising me on the car.
To then allow the car to "Stretch her legs" throughout the day and having to do no more than change 1 bolt, change 4 tyres and fill with fuel is a drivers dream. More importantly it gave the RAF Rally Mechanics, Gwill, Brad, Nick, Nathan, the two civilians Big Daddy D and the reserve co-driver Rob time to learn the car, not to mention Clunsey who was pacing over his "baby"!
You all may think this is a little much but Dan (The co-driver) put our trust and belief in Scooby Clinis and they delivered 10 fold.
Pat, the master mapper was an inspiration, what talent!
A few more tweaks from Kev, Pat and the lads and the potential is endless.
Will leave you all now with one more thought, spectators at the Rally gave generously to "Help for Heroes" by seeing and enjoying the car where it was built for.
Thanks Kev and the Team.

Alan Healey Memorial Rally Cadwell Park 8th April
The car was returned to Scooby Clinic the Tweaks after the first round of the REIS MSA National Tarmac Championship.
On discusssion with Kev it was decided that we would do a shakedown rally in preperation for the most demanding and dangerous rally of 2012, the Manx National Rally in May on the Isle of Man.
So, we collected the Car after lots of hard work form all at the Clinic, helped again by Neil from the RAF Team.
Pat the master Mapper was now a lot happier with the performance, so I was under instruction to stretch the legs of the SCR1 as I have named it....
The top 3 cars were all WRC types from a P2000 to S11's.
We started car 23 out of 55....
Stage Positions:
Stage 1......12th
Stage 2......10th
Stage 3......9th
Stage 4 to 8.....8th
Stage 9......7th......Set 5th fastest time.
Stage 10.....8th......Rained whilst on stage....wrong type of tyres...Slicks...
Final Result: 8th Overall 2nd in class-beat S11 by 41 secs !
Wow, what a machine Scooby Clinic, the Team and Sponsors have built.
Engine performed faultlessly, load more power and anti lag was great.
Handling - Powerflex / Kumho Mix....perfect.
Rally Mechanics - brilliant. Rob - Brad - Nath- Dave.
Race Engineer - My Rock ! Neil
Co-driver - Dan - Kept me on the straight and narrow.
Speaking to Kev and Pat at the Clinic - time to turn the power up more....can't wait.....
More News to come....
Thanks for reading....
