Scoobynet HAS changed a LOT in the last year to eighteen months.
before that, there were loads of knowledgeable people on.
Now there are still a few, one or two who post occasionally, and the majority are now folk who know little or nothing about the cars, but are VERY free with advice.
REALLY knowledgeable posters like Splitpin, who Jura mentioned earlier have left after being abused by these new know-it-all types.
It's really up to jimmy: stay or go.
If he doesn't feel comfortable, he'll go.

From time to time people move on and are replaced by new members, some of who will ask questions, some of who will use the search engine to limit the number of questions they ask, and take part in discussion. Some will post facts, some will use opinions as fact, but you soon learn who to listen to.
Some treat new members like welcome guests, others treat them as outsiders who should be shunned and ridiculed. In the last 2 months I have seen much of this in jimmy's threads, help and ridicule in equal amounts, but you have to ask, does it matter if some anonymous individual hiding behind a pseudonym ridicules you?
I learned many years ago that your thread start count should be smaller than your search usage, people who have looked out some answers will get a lot more respect from the other members, however, once they have read up, they should not then consider themselves experts in the field, and many do go that way, bookworm syndrome I call it.
I am only on my second scooby after 6 years, but from being a member here I know which way I want to take my cars, and spend more time searching and reading up posts from experts like Ian Godney, Duncan, JGM etc etc.
It would seem Jimmy has the the forum almost conversationally, at every stage he has sought to understand, and as a result found out about some bad choices and made some good choices as a result. Looks like every trade he has made has been done for a good reason, and with some thought process, but whatever, why if he is happy with his decisions do people feel the need to belittle him? To feel better about themselves? He and a few others were ripped off by another forum member recently, we should be supporting members like Jimmy who try to make the most of the community and save our belittling and ridicule for the scammers and other people that make this place less friendly.
Maybe it is time for the mods/owners to introduce a point system for breaches of forum conduct? drive away the nastiness and ridicule with short suspensions as warnings and bans for persistently obnoxious behaviour.

The best advice that can be given, is: If you don't like someone, ignore them- it takes two to tango. And as you pointed out, at the end of the day: who really gives **** what a stranger on the net thinks of you or what you say.

Doesn't work mate; just generates suspicion and promotes tit for tat exchanges on the basis of who has given a positive or negative apprasial of who. We've tried user issue infractions and comminty ratings of posts i.e. been down that path before.
The best advice that can be given, is: If you don't like someone, ignore them- it takes two to tango. And as you pointed out, at the end of the day: who really gives **** what a stranger on the net thinks of you or what you say.

I said it before in another thread to you but I'm going to say a bit more jimmy.
You don't buy a scooby so you can join SN. Think about all the guys at WMI. You have been to the meets and tell me that wasn't different to on here. Enjoy your car and do it for yourself. I had a scooby and wasn't even on here. I'm a new member.

God, you never lasted long!!!! If you can't handle the comments just put them on ignore mate.
But you seem to take some comments by others personally mate, that's the downfall here, don't let the door bang you on the *** on the way out, lol
Good luck anyway.

Jimmy try not to take comments made on here to heart, there is plenty of tw8ts on here who like to be keyboard warriors from time to time and a few like of them tend to stick together and pick on a victim. Just try not to give them any ammo or rise to their comments and you will be ok
How on earth have you managed 1300 posts since November???? I bet you was browsing Snet when you got pulled

In all seriousness forums can get out of hand, its easy to bleeting on a keyboard and cause harm in some form, usually emotional, however at the end of the day all forums have keyboard warriors so dont rise to it. I have bit a few times, but now try to take the passive approach, if someone wants to be off I try and resolve it on the forum openly, or pm them regarding the issues, and in once case rang the nutter up!
Either way there is no need to get your knickers in a twist and spit the dummy out, I certainly wouldnt be detracted from Subaru just because of comments on here.
Jura - Has Splitpin now left the forum ? I liked the guy, he said it how it was, but was very knowledgable so you could see his points of view clearly.
