My post wan't intended to be patronising David, and I'm sorry if it came across that way. I'm sure that we're all deeply affected and sickened by what this child has endured.
What I can't understand is why people would be content to see the perpetrators of this offence serve a custodial sentence and then be freed, possibly to commit the same offence again.
My opinion is that there are certain crimes against humanity, of which this is certainly one, that transcend all normal judicial responses and require the most severe sanctions to be imposed.
I am also sure that, were CP able to be invoked in this case, it would not be the last instance of child molestation we would hear of. But you cannot deny that these animals would be prevented from visiting their sickening behaviour on any more unfortunate children. That is what I call a result.
As ever it is only my opinion.

Certainly no need for apologies and I recognise that your post was heartfelt and we all share your anger at this evil crime.

But since you raise the CP question again I have to say that this crime can only have been committed by people with a severe mental problem. And I do not think we should kill people who are mentally ill. One could argue that the more evil crimes are committed by those who are mentally stable and know fully what they are doing - like the Viet Cong who put bombs into babies' prams or those in Sierra Leone who cut children's arms off. There are some evil people in this world.

If th report is true I would not expect the couple to ever be released from Broadmoor or wherever they are sent.
