A couple of really old classics were "Bambi" and "Lassie come home" which are ideal for very young children and even the wife: if you can still find them.

I have no memories of any Christmas films from my childhood because we didn't do Christmas (like we do here) over there. However, my children (when they were little) here thoroughly enjoyed watching classics like Mary Poppins etc. over Christmas here. Snowman was their favourite most film of the season.
