Coming from two classics including a 450+ RA to my Current Blob STi....i wouldnt go back to classic for road driving

It would only be back to a classic for a track car

Just watched this video (as found through a link above) and thought I would share it again so that anyone who might have missed it gets a chance. Really good watch!

didn't i read somewhere that it was down to old age?

trouble is, as much as i enjoy a comfortable car, they just tend to be too boring and detached from the real world which i suppose unless i drive a newer one i will never really know for sure; i can only go on what i read.

Maybe i should do just that?? Bit of a pain though.

Depends what you want from your car tbh, they're all superior in their own right.

Personally I want to drive a trackcar everyday Speed, composure etc etc etc, I am sure are the measure of a good car.....BUT what it comes down to is I smile in my classic at 10mph and 110mph I can take or leave the newage

I would even go further to say that old sheds make me smile fullstop, new cars just leave me cold.

Yup this is a good show of what all the cars are like, except they pitted a v3 type R with DCCD against a v5 STI without bit of a shame that, but the car that came out top was the new age, to quote the guy

Wow! its fast, smooth and i cant find anything i dont like about the car (MY02 Spec C)
That to me sums it all up oh and it was 5 seconds faster than the v3 type r around that track (and that wasnt even one with the A-DCCD as it only had a manual DCCD on the MY02 cars!)

The fact is the type R isnt as nice or as rewarding to drive, its not raw either, its unrefined in comparision, thats not always a bad thing but its not good either.
Ive pointed out which JDM's are better, the Spec C and the MY05 onwards as these have all the good things taken from the Spec C, these are much more rewarding cars to be in, you can pootle round town in 5th gear at 25mph, you cant do that in a type R (i know ive tried ) and they are much more stable, you dont feel like your going quickly yet you are making alot more speed than you think, also not a bad thing but if you get caught its not good either
The type R is a good car but its not a match for the cars ive pointed out, in any department (well maybe looks )

I bought it after I had sold the Spec C (about 18 months later), needs a little work still but runs hoping to fill my scooby gap that i was missing from my life fact is, its nice but didnt compare to the Spec C, hence I bought another Spec C about a year later

this thread is turning out to be exactly what i wanted it to. excellent work

still doesn't make my decision any easier though. maybe i will swing the way of the type R just for unequal headers?

Side thought, are all jdm and 06+ hawks twin scroll with equal length headers? If so, thats a shame. performance is so marginal that unequal should have just been left on regardless imo!

All MY03 (blobs onwards) are twin scroll, the sound is actually quite amazing its more rally car than anything, really is nice
The equal length headers do improve performance, just look at mine, factory standard (just a uk fuel remap, similar to my old car) 312bhp and 323lbs torque, you wont find any unequal length header factory standard car pushing anywhere near as much torque

Bog standard really, but it doesn't pull from that though.Flooring it at 1500rpm in 5th gives good comedy value. You can almost make a coffee before you see any boost.

Apart from the KL (Blobs) which were 2003/2004 cars, yes all the other STI's (GL/Spec C) have quick rack standard
