Tel, they are still going, had some not long ago, anyway, Beef is the signature and original flavour, I can still remember my first packet, from the kiosk on the sea front at Benllech on Anglessey. Was a seminal moment for me, had seen them on telly and been wanting to try them aged about seven but they werent in our local shop, then, bang, there they are in bloody Wales, fantastic, as good as I had expected.

 

What about the Monster munch pickled onion special edition packs that made your tongue turn blue

Think they were chicken flavoured and consisted of letters and numbers IIRC...

 

 

Don't forget Fangs (no idea what flavour, red packet from memory)

and CLAWS!! (Not sure of the flavour ??? ) My Fav!!

 

Burtons Puffs. They were sold with milk in a triangle shape cartons and Burtons Jam tarts at our old primary school @ the start of the 70's ohhh the nostalgia

 

Nobody mentioned the `Hedgehog flavour` ones from the 80`s yet?

Cheese & Onion Ringos and Fish `n` Chips for me

 

Delicious.
Only problem was they made your fingers smell like a 'just come off the rag' fanny.

All I know is I ****ing loved 'em! Think they must have had crack in.

I'm sure I read there's a company in Ireland (Smiths?) that still make 'em and sell 'em over there! Damn!

* Football Crazy - bacon

* Ringos. Green, c&o. Blue, s&v

* Kung Fu. Yellow-orange packet, smokey bacon. Black packet, cheese and bacon. Tonnes of flavour.

* KP Beef crisps - gorgeous.

* Talking of beef, whatever happened to the brown packet beef versions of Wotsits?

* Twists. Red, salted. Blue, s&v. Used to add vinegar to 'em, shake the bag - heaven!

* And Ranchos (Rancheros?) that someone mentioned too - amazing quality things! Like Frazzles... But for posh people LOL

It was Ranchero's - I seem to remember 2 flavours, maybe bacon and bacon & beans? Nearest to this now are Markies bacon fries.

The original 70's Golden Wonder tomato flavour - the one's before they started removing all the colour and flavourings that were bad for you....
