Edited for accuracy.

On a serious note though it's the same thing with other products (e.g. electronics) that are bought e.g. from USA and the warranty doesn't cover them in Europe or vice versa.

Why would they want to "waste their time" with a product from which they didnt make any profit in the first place.
Unless you find a friendly local dealer -where you have your car serviced preferrably - that can can contact japan directly (if this can be done without going through IM), otherwise it's probably best speaking to a japanese dealer directly.

Whilst you can't get warranty work done through Subaru UK, this is a safety recall which 100% will be done through a UK Dealer. They'll need the chassis number and probably a picture to be sure it's got that part fitted. Remember it's only a very limited number of cars, even amongst the small numbers of JDM cars here.

This is what I said and I was told by vosa that any safety/recall work should be carried out regardless of it being an import.

Safety involved recalls usually get done without issue over here, full chassis number, The recall number from the bullitin to send them will help them talk to the factory in japan & as mike said a photo of the effected area

Just talk to your nearest Subaru dealer. They may need a copy of the release so they understand what the issue is but they can process it with the warranty dept on a PWA as normal.

STI NOTICE 11/001 Looking at the original post by STI there bulletin number appears to be the one to the lefthand side which you would need to quote in a PWA.

Those of you not familier with the system you need submit a PWA to Subaru via the warranty admit at your local dealership in order for subaru to authorise the work to be carried out on your vehicle prior to even ordering any parts for it. Can Take a couple of days, but please give as much information as you can give of your vehicle and the bulletin details will help the Guys out who will process this for you.

Kenny you have any luck with this?

I've been busy so not had a chance to take my car to the dealer yet.
