For the potential hassle involved I'd just pay for a repair yourself tbho, give me a shout and I'll sort it out for a minimal charge mate as I said before.
Really isn't worth the hassle I'm afraid.

i agree while its annoying what has happened, its not a massivley expensive repair, and by the time you have gone through court and tried to prove he did it, youll have spent more time and money .

I think I am going to end up being shafted by them and I've been preparing myself for it

However I will get some legal advice on the subject because I don't want to let it drop after they have damaged my car and they should be responsible for their actions.

Change of plans tonight, I'm going to call my next door neighbours landlord that instigated this and make it their problem, I've been very reasonable, patient and understanding and it's got me nowhere and it's not really my problem.

She can sort it out with them or I'll claim off her insurance. I can't be bothered to be honest, I just want my car fixed to the standard it was

To be fair, its not her fault, landlords fault, that option is the easy way out and ffrom that i get the impression its easier for you to put on her rather than these fella`s who did the damage.

Phone your insurance and get them to deal with it as it, to me, a case of a hit and run,in the case of him not having insurance to cover this incident, worth a shot

They were working on her behalf and she is insured so she can take it up with them, I've tried to deal with them direct but at the end of the day I am not their customer and they don't want to know.

I am not calling my insurance because I'll lose my no claims for the sake of a small claim and my excess is bigger than it'd cost to repair it.

I think this is the right call. If she has insurance they will pay out and then pursue the carpet company, so they're unlikely to get away with it.

Are you ready to name and shame yet?

I wouldnt of even thought of claiming off her insurance, if she had any

At the end of the day, here`s another scenario

Your neighbour has groceries from asda delivered, the guy carrying the bags of tinned food knocks it into your car, causing a dent, who would you blame/chase ?

your neighbour ? good luck with that

I`m pretty sure, even if your neighbour agrees and gives you insurance details, they could easily say nope,i dont think they will pay out, they will say chase it with the people who did the damage

hope im wrong and good luck with it etc, but i still feel your letting these guys get away with it,not saying your scared, but comes across you`d rather hassle your lady neighbour than chase the actual guys who did the damage.

If that were the case I'd chase Asda for causing the damage just like I've been chasing the carpet company that caused the damage.

I've spoken to my neighbour and she isn't happy about how the carpet company have handled it and she is going to visit the carpet company next week and see what they have to say, she's been a loyal customer for years and she agrees that they should be the ones to correct this.

At the end of the day I've tried to resolve it with the carpet company and they don't want to know, time to try a different tactic and see where that leads to.

Basically you will have to chase the carpet fitters but if they are big blokes you might find it could come back and bite you in the future
Insurance wont want to know
Neighbour won't care
Landlord won't car and will just laugh
Just write it off as a bad job and repaired local and ask the carpet fitters to pay a contribution to the repair you might be lucky and they will give you some cash as they won't want to claim off thier buisness insurance

You would be surprised My neighbour has already offered to pay but I wouldn't take her money because it's not her fault and she's going to have it out with the carpet firm. I might end up paying but that's only because I'm a decent guy and I won't take the wrong peoples money I want the carpet place to pay up! Anything else I'm not interested in to be honest!

Seconded

It's a shame (to say the least) that the carpet company wouldn't do the right thing, a sign of the times I think.

If this is Cressex Carpet Center, I won't be using them to replace my carpets in the house I rent out locally.

Or get them round, measure up, give a quote and then tell them that you have just heard about this story and you have suddenly lost faith in their integrity as a business. Show them that word is getting around already.
