He's had a few bumps over the years.

Didn't he a 'wee' off in his Mclaren once before?

Roads were rather wet yesturday after a dry spell which for some reason makes them more greasy than usual; never very too good for handling/traction.

Caught me out many a time in high BHP RWD cars.

Yeah "greasy" cold roads + 627bhp + high bhp/tonne + RWD + mid engine (low polar moment of inertia) = go figure...

Will catch even the most 'Stig'-like pilot out...

I pulled out the driveway sideways in the Jag yesturday....I didn't even boot it

And thats with only 290bhp; usually I have to stomp on the loud pedal to break the back end away

Glad I have a quick-rack installed now

You'd hope so, he used to compete in the Renault Elf cup.

I've come out of work sideways a couple weeks back, in my auto luxobarge Merc

Only a 2.3 but had some opposite lock on for the "powerslide"

At least he drives the cars and not just keeps them hidden in a garage ! Hope he get it fixed and he is ok.

Only too easy to lose it on a slippery road with a touch too much right boot, I understand it is also easy to do the same sort of thing with a Ferrari. He said he was not going particularly fast at the time too.

He is an pretty experienced driver, I have seen him at the Goodwood Revival coping very well with big old Jaguars and the like in the saloon car races.

Sounds like a bit of bad luck from a minor mistake to me, bet he wont get much of an NCB for quite a while now!

I think getting the fastest Top Gear lap must have gone to his head

Yep the back end is badly damaged.

I expect the engine and gearbox are dead.
The tub might also be damaged. If it is - then I guess it could well be the end of that car.

McLaren will fix anything, but if the 3 main parts of the car are dead I dont think it will be viable. I just hope the rear subframe has broken off clean and that way it might actually not be too bad.

FPMSL at the reporting ... from same article:

"COMEDIAN Rowan Atkinson cheated death last night after crashing his £650,000 supercar"

"He later spoke of his embarrassment, admitting "The prang was embarrassingly low-speed and therefore not related to my handling of the car, thank God."

I think the "low speed" comment was in relation to his previous bump with it - not sure he's commented on this one yet?
