Ex-News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks has been arrested by police investigating phone hacking and bribery at the News of the World.

The 43-year-old was arrested by appointment at a London police station and remains in custody.

She was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to intercept communications and on suspicion of corruption allegations.

 

Firstly what business of ours is it what an MP or anyone else for that matter does in his/her private life as long as it isn't breaking the law?

Secobdly I don't think the advertising for sex bit was the issue for the press. The gay bit was!

 

It was on a public dating forum as far as I can gather. And as he evidently wanted to keep it quiet then that would leave him open to blackmail etc.

I think he was more embarrassed about making a tit of himself than anything else as he's never tried to hide hide his sexuality anyway.

I doubt the hairy arsed miners in his constituency were impressed with him. After all if you put a sheep with a red rosette up for parliamentary election in the Rhondda Valley it would get the vote.

Because when people in highly responsibleduly elected Government positions mix with the 'wrong' crowd, it can lead to potentially serious breaches of national security.

I don't see his sexual orientation has anything to do with the security risk he poses to the country, Profumo wasn't gay (as far as I know).
The fact that he holds a senior public office and was openly advertising himself for sex with unknown people renders him liable to scrutiny as a potential security risk.

I'd agree with that except if his/her private behavior showed he was a hypocrite with his/her political policies.

Like for example if he/she was campaigning for say 'family values' but was having an affair with a married person etc.
