If you found one cheaper at least have the decency to let the seller (Maz) know.

If you thought he was ripping you off why offer the £450/£500? You must have been happy with the price to offer that?

I totally agree, as would Maz. But

1. You werent being ripped off.
2. It sounds like you didnt have the kahunas to tell Maz so he didnt rush round getting it off for you.

Fair enough, i'm sure most people would have to consider what to do if they found the same item £200 cheaper.

The problem is you didn't let the seller know that you didn't want his turbo anymore, which isn't the done thing.
You could have least replied to his text, then it probably wouldn't have got to this stage

IMO of course.

I read it that the £400 was turbo only, but the £500 included the new actuator and delivery.

With all due respect,,
If you needed the car why advertise the turbo before having another one to go on. I totally agree the guy should of called you and told you the situation, but at the end of the day 200 notes is 200 notes. If I saw an item 200 quid cheaper after telling you id have yours I know what I'd do. I would however have the ***** to call you and tell you the crack.
Also, £520 for a 34 is all the way anyway.

you read my post carefully!!! i underlined that part of your post for a reason!!! further up he says he didnt know how much they were so he took your word £500 was right!!! he then made an offer!!! so how does that mean he knew what the price for these were because he tried to haggle!!! lol and how annoying is it pressing !!! after every sentance!!!!!!!!!

I'd be similsr to others on here. If I found a turbo and say £500 was a done deal but later found one the same for £300 I'd go with the latter. BUT, I'd have the ******* ***** to ring the first guy and at least explain that I had found one cheaper and was going with that option. I certainly wouldn't be sending ghey text messages written in some abhorrent sub standard unreadable lingo. You are men, you had a gentlemans agreement, so you talk on the phone if not face to face - christ almighty, is EVERYTHING done on text message these days

As far as I'm concerned, if I change my mind, I ring up and explain this. If the guy on the other end got all arsey, then at least I've done what I can to let them down lightly rather than be a **** and ignore responses.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other IMHO.

Yep text messages and emails are routinely used to avoid speaking to people in this day and age. A sad state of affairs to be honest!

as above.

I used to keep parts for folk ''until the end of the month till I get paid''. Then when I asked at the end of the month for the payment, was told theyd bought the same part off Joe Bloggs round the corner for cheaper, which is fair enough.

But even a quick text to say you'd seen one cheaper elsewhere, could you match the price?, would have gave the seller a chance to match it or beat it?

i was interested in this vf34 a while ago,and spoke to maz and he told me he cant remove the turbo from car as he needs it on the car so he can drive to the garage,(i needed it quickly).
anyway he let me know that unfortunetely wont be able to sell due to this problem,
fair enough.
as im a genuine buyer i decided to get in touch again to see if there were any other options to get around the problem as i quite fancied the vf34.
maz didnt get back to me.
maz....if you had taken it off the car when i spoke to you it would have been sold by now!

no offence mate but you could have just text me to say....defo cant sell.
and now i find out you have taken it off the car (that you needed) and tried selling!!!

wtf??

what a twist.......i agree maz, he should have let u know.
but you aint an exactly an angel in that department are you?

Kinda agree, but IMHO you should give your best price to start with, not have to try compete after a lower priced part has been sourced. It's like if you went to Kwik-Fit (if you were thick enough) and asked for 4 tyres. They give you a price and you tell them they're x amount cheaper round the corner... "oh we'll match that then Sir"

Erm, no you won't, I'll **** off round the corner and get them from there instead.

Can you see my point in that?
