Also, out of interest... There seem to be a few people out there running delta-dash. Have you all had to obtain/make special serial cables to whatever connector is on the car, or do the newer cars have a standard 9 pin RS-232 connector somewhere???

I am really itchy to find out more about the Select monitor protocol!!!! Does anyone out there know more about it?

So, is the connector near those test connectors that you link to read back fault codes?
I guess you're referring to the OBD-II connector. On my car, the OBD-II connector is on the front side of the panel, the Select Monitor one is right at the same place on the back side of it.

I've looked, and there is a yellow connector with 4 conductors. From a quick bit of probing with a meter, I am assuming:

+12v
TTL (5v) Tx
TTL (5v) Rx
GND

But I am gagging to know what the serial protocol is! Would I see any kind of sense if I hooked it up to a TTY running at the appropriate baudrate (and appropriate voltage, of course), or is it more likely a binary protocol (where you send a few non-textual bytes at a time representing a command)?

I have now teamed up with Nexxxus - I'll help him create the website (which is my primary job) and he'll help me to build my reader for my MY02.

So you'll hopefully be able to see progress real soon

Nexxxus,

Would you provide any information on the Select Monitor protocol?

I am really interested to find out more.

Regards

Just wondering if looking at the select monitor port with my laptop while driving the car would help diagnose my boost problem?

If possible tech info would be greatly appreciated (can be emailed)

Thanks

Dave

I can confirm that Nexxxus is working on the website and will be updating it soon (there is a frontpage there now).

I am currently helping with his translation of Estonian English into Lancastrian English to ensure that any information put on the site is not ambiguous or misleading.
