No I don't.

I don't seem to have a normal hangover. Just the aches. No headache etc.

By the way this does not happen every time but when it does I obviously try to work out why.

Where are you getting the booze from? Is it bottled stuff you are opening at home or from pubs?

I only get hang-overs/aches if I have a drink in pubs which don't look after their lines properly.

Is it me or is the answer not rather obvious, your getting older and according to what you say you don't drink very much and in your own words you can do without it.
At a guess i would say it's because you don't drink much and then you have a good old binge and your system is obviously not used to it, so the solution is either drink more or drink less, my suggestion would be the latter.
Not being rude or trying to upset you in anyway, none of us are getting any younger and by the sounds of it your body is trying to tell you somthing.
I would suggest a quick call to nhs direct might help if only to get the opinion of a nurse and also find out if your symptoms are indicative of some more serious condition.

p.s
Im in croatia and here they use sulpher to clean the wine barrels as most people here make their own, and i can feel really crap the next day after only a couple of glasses if it's from someone that was a little generous with the amount used in the cleaning process.

Like any issue in life if you are the outsider looking in the solution probably does look obvious to you.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has similar experiences so no need to start your reply with the answer is obvious, unless of course you like to give the impression you a big know it all.

Thanks for the suggestion of calling the NHS much more help to me.

Yep you do... for some reason rich red wine makes me come out in a purple rash, proper purple Hulk style - so I avoid it. Try getting wasted on other drinks and see if it has the same effect...

Well actually thinking about it a bit more, if I have a few pints of bitter, I wake up with the aches.

Not so much with Wine but if I have spirits and wine I will no doubt have the ache effect.

So perhaps I am just getting old and can't tolerate it like I used to be able too.

For someone so **** sure of themselves, I surprised you don't have enough intelligence to use the quote button properly.

What your friends drink is not the point.

Maybe you should consider that if you feel you have to drink that much at a sitting, then you are showing a certain amount of dependency on it. So easy for that to get worse.

Perhap's your body is telling you something.

lol sometimes I wonder if people actually read threads properly.

I don't feel I have to drink that much you missing the point completely, but hey gave me a smile.

Anyway I have since spoken to my doctor who is going to do some tests.

He doesn't think I have a dependency nor does he think I am an alcoholic!

Well that was the impression you gave at the beginning. You did ask us for our opinions and you said you were drinking that much wine. I was trying to be helpful.

Maybe it is down to the last line of my previous post then. I have known people who are forced to avoid alcohol because it has a bad effect on them.

Your doctor should find out anyway.

Les
