Its the Etronix version of the Core Code that I don't like. I've not met anyone else who didn't think it was up to the job so its just me. I have two KO transmitters but one has a broken steering pot. I'm bidding on a couple of KOs on ebay at the moment and if I win one I'll give the fixed one to my daughter. I'll have the Etronix as a spare so will give first refusal if you want.

I had a DX3s controller when I bought a Losi 8 RTR. It had a temp sensor for the engine and there were other sockets in the telemetry box for other sensors etc. I just spit on the engine - if it bounces off its too hot, if it sits and sizzles its fine

Cheers, Edd. That X11 looks great. It seems to have evolved a lot from how I remember the older version.

Most chargers let you do a storage charge of about 50% if leaving for a long time. I don't really bother. As long as they aren't run completely flat I don't think they are affected that much - least not as much as nimh cells were. I've got 6 sets, 2 for my crawler which I just charge as and when but they last about an hour easy. 2 for my daughter which are OK but you can feel one of them is getting a bit tired. I got some new turnigy ones recently and they do feel quite punchy. As with all these things theres lots of opinion out there.

Oh, I'm based in Pembrokeshire so apart from our little local club I have a good hour and half drive to the nearest track. My wifes family live in Pontefract and that area is much better supported - I'm also a big model train fan which is also far popular up there than here.

Or

I've got a Turnigy 13.5T in my touring car and its fine. I think some of the branded motors are just the cheap asian motors with a posh name.

This thread has spurred me to get the Hyper 7 running again. It's been a couple of years since I last ran it!

I've been out bashing..............a lot.

Got x6 Lotus Big 6 cars now ( x4 EP & x2 Nitro) . One of my EP ones is pretty much race spec now in terms of set up. Turnbuckles all round, Anti Roll Bars , Short shocks , springs , Metal geared servo etc.

EP cars.....
Running it on a 8.5T Brushless set up (Hobbywing) , 2s Lipo (works well on 40c but on the 95c Plazma its great fun anc punchy) .

I'm running it on 32T/83T gearing with the diff slacked off a little rather than 100% locked.

I've added a rear diffuser too and wing end plates. This car in a straight line sees around 40mph .

second one is similar spec that I have now let my friend use. Only difference is the gearing side of it is 31t/86t.

Third - Not running brushless but on a 14t motor , 30T/86T on 2s Lipo with Mtroniks ESC. Rear turn buckles , uprated springs.

Fourth - Is my first Big 6 that is pretty much standard but with uprated shocks/oil. My 5 year old son uses it when we go out so have turned down the power to a 21t motor , 27T/89T on a 15T limited ESC (Etronix) . Goes pretty good on Nimh sticks with 4700 or 5300 cells to be honest.

Nitro cars I haven't really tocuhed but once the weather warms up will be out using it. One is basic but the other one is loaded with upgrades so should be interesting.

x2 Drift cars. They are great fun. One on brushed set up. And the other on 13.5 brushless. Ones mine one is my 5 year olds.

x1 FTX Vantage now on Brushless set up.
x1 FTX Carnage on brushed set up which is my 5 year olds.

I'm planning on getting my FG Porsche up and running in the next week or two. ot some new shocks, air filter and fuel filter to fit with adding a new RX on 2.4 system.

Can't wait.

Right Edd, I want to buy a kit to build up (bored off work)

I'm not really fussed about using it, maybe something nice looking I can keep.. But I haven't bought a Tamiya kit in a while, can you still get something you have go build up still? It's just when I was in the model shop buying heli spares I noticed the tamiya kits looked like they came pre built now!

Any recommendations for something a bit time consuming to build up?

Tamiya do have the XB range which is expert built but buying them already built isn't for me either.

It depends on budget and what type of car - buggy, road car, truck or monster truck.

Tamiya Wild One is cheap and a decent build. Looks like a sand dune buggy rather than some of the spaceship looking ones. If you want something expensive, takes a while to build and looks awesome then the Avante is the one to have but its not cheap. Never built a Hot Shot but its on my list and is a handsome looking buggy and looks like an interest build.

Any of the TT-01 chassis cars would be a good shout if you want an on road car. If you want a big monster truck then its got to be a Clodbuster.

Have a look on Modelsport website and see what take your fancy. I wouldn't be afraid also of looking at other manufacturers either. IMO though I would avoid the more obscure ones as parts might be an issue.

Holiday buggy was my first car when I was a kid. Recently got the re-release, its a nice car to build up but doesn't take too long as its pretty simple. Few bits and pieces need painting though so that adds to it a bit.

hi guys I am new to the world of subaru but by no means new to the world of rc cars, I started out with a traxxass tmax which I loved but hated the temperamental nitro tuning, I then moved to a traxxass summit as a toy.

then I discovered 1/5th scale and petrol haha I started with a fg baja 4x4 with a 26cc zenoah 4 bolt multiplex rhino steering servo and savox coreless throttle and break servo, next a hpi baja 5b with a 26cc 2bolt cy engine dom v1 pipe specky dx3r and so many more things lol, next mcd evo race runner comp spec again to many mods to list, next a mcd evo 3 race runner ultimate spec with a futaba 4pk and a 28.5 4 bolt zen engine with a dyno print out of 8.5 bhp, then finally an elcon cleon mmx with front air breaks and many more mods

see the pics below hope you like them

The 4wd bugged are good took me a few days to do mine, but there pricy

If I was building I'd go old school

Hornet
Grasshopper
Hotshot
Frog

Bare on mind James if you want to race any none of the above will take the new brushless motors, and still need the old school brushed systems

The new associated 4.2 or schumacher svr etc, are the proper race ones, you can still mess with them on the street but they take brushless motors, and will go 40 to 70 mph

YouTube has guys doing 100mph with low turned electric motors

Well mine still seems to work fine - think I'll get a new Lipo 11v battery though - mine is now puffed up like a balloon!

Chewed a lot of grass up though - forgot how powerful it is!

Well the B4 arrived yesterday, but whilst waiting I picked up a Yokomo Bmax2

Have now fitted it with

Speed Passion 7.5
Speed Passion reventon Pro
Spektrum Servo

Seems to run very well

I also snaffled a full set of Big Bore Shocks for the K1, still needs a lot of tuning that K1 to stop rear end Kick, need some shims and also 7.5degree yokes yet

But im getting there

What Batt do you use for outdoor charging guys ? im told leisure Batteries,

Very nice. Have a real soft spot for anything Yokomo.

I would use a leisure battery for outdoor charging.

In the near future our club will be moving outdoors and I couldn't decide which buggy to build and run from the B44.1, DEX410, SX3 and BMax4 kits I have. So to be completely different I'm going to see how I get on running an Avante/Egress hybrid.

New 11.1v lipo bought; they are darn cheap now! The other one was puffing up like a hippo after every us which worried me. I'm still slightly scared of them!
