Only the MK2 focus has the decent 1.8 unit.

I'd have the Golf and fit uprated springs/shocks on it.

daughter has got the vw bora (mk4 golf with boot) fitted with the 130 derv and must say it go's very well, got 130k on it and still runs sweet as a nut. i also run a golf (v6 4 motion) and tbh we not had any probs with either car.
