All that money too watch virgin HD...PMSL this humours me no end, your going to spend that kinda money to avoid Sky, which without doubt has a FAR superior HD service....must be joking....EVERY movie in HD 50+ HD channels....why dont you watch it on a "rear projection" TV....i heard they are good for the "cost cutter"

This is why I started off by asking you what budget you had set, to do what you have outlined in the op to a decent quality will cost a fair amount of cash
I must admit, I hadn't looked at the price, I'd always thought of Onkyo being high-end, high priceless stuff, however in this case it's actually cheaper than the Pioneer system I currently use with the Xbox360.

SW, Onkyo make a whole range of stuff. I use an Onkyo 5507 processor that had a rrp of £1800 and has no poweramps built in, you need 5 external ones to make it work.
The 607 is the entry level, still does a good job for that budget though.

The question is what exactly are you trying to achieve?

I just want to be able to sit in the hot tub next to the summer house and stream movies and music up to it. Being outside, I'd expect the wind and other environmental factors to degrade the quality, which is why I'm thinking I don't need the best sound system out there.

Oh I see, my mistake. I thought you were going to build a cinema room in an outbuilding/summer house.

You are of course correct, if that is what you are trying to do then you don't need 5.1/7.1 sound!

I'm not the best person to advice on streaming video so I'll let others do that. I can tell you though that I'm very happy with my Sonos system.

Good luck and I look forward to some pics of the hot tub/summer house when it's built
