If it does turn out that there is a question mark over it, I will find the number of a good independent Scoobie specialist and get them to quote. If the seller won't budge, then I will have to pull out of the sale, since I am not willing to pay potentially £100s of pounds for something that I was led to believe had already been done!

I'll have to wait until next Wednesday to find out....

Thanks again for the reply :-)

Purley is over my neck of the woods, but not heard of them. He must have been saving the pennies as Croydon next to purley has a good Subaru dealer.

just looked them up, their electrical specialists hence the name play. but they list doing servicing so could explain why not everything has been done as per 60k service, also be worth checking to see what parts they used, as their also a Peugeot & Renault specialist, but that's not to say they didn't get OEM parts from the croydon dealers

I have just had an Email from the seller. He has asked his wife to have a good look through all of the paperwork, but as things stand, it looks like, if there is no invoice and just a stamp in the service schedule and since Car-Tricity don't know anything about a service, that it probably didn't even have a 60k, which would definitely be a show stopper!

I don't know why people continue to list a car with FSH when it doesn't. It is simple really; If a car has to be serviced every 12 months / 10k (which ever comes first) then that is what should be done.

One service every year, so on a 4 year old car you'd expect 4 services. If the 4 year old car had travelled say 80k despite only being four years old it should have 8 services.

8 year old car 80k = 8 services
8 year old car 160k = 16 services

& So on.

It's not rocket science

To be completely honest, since I have been looking for a new car, out of the six that 'made it through' my initial checks, only ONE of them seems to have actually had FSH! And that one is the other of the two in this thread, but even then, the last two services have been done by the owner (a former Subaru Technician), though I don't doubt that they have been done (and he has the bills for the parts to prove), but I have told him that I am now interested in this one (an '04 plate with reconditioned alloys and the SL options (on top of the PPP)).

As you say, it isn't rocket science. Whenever I have had any cars, I have always aimed to book them in a couple of weeks before the service is due. Indeed when I had my last high performance car (An EVO 7), it had to be serviced every 6 months which worked out at about every 2,000 miles since, it was 'whichever is sooner'.

Do you know something else? There is currently a Scoobie being sold on Ebay that I thoroughly checked out and it turned out that it didn't have FSH even though the seller said it did, so he added a note to it to say that it didn't have a service (the 20,000 mile service was missing I think).
Anyway, it didn't reach the reserve price. He has now relisted it and is again saying that it has FSH!!!!!

Sorry to hear of your bother in procuring an example of this model. Fortunately my younger brother did all the hunting around for me, as he buys and sells cars. A couple of years ago I decided to part company with my BMW 530 Sport after spending thousands on routine maintenance. Luckily I was able to sell it within a day of listing on Autotrader. My brother had an 03 WRX PPP and I thought it give it a test drive and I fell in love. Two and a half years on and I still look forward to driving it, just like now as I anticipate finishing work and running to the staff car park!

Be patient fella for you shall soon find the right car and once you do you'll really enjoy it. PS. Having owned the car for just over two years I've had no mechanical problems at all, just routine servicing. I am truly amazed at how a high performance car can be so reliable. Especially having owned three BMW's that cost me buckets in routine works.

All,
In the end, I bought a Bora 4motion. '03 plate with under 47,000 miles on the clock. Nice condition and lots of extras (sat nav, leather, rain sensing wipers etc.)

Not in the same 'ball park' as a Scoobie with regard to performance I know, but I needed to get a car this week and I simply couldn't find a WRX PPP that had FSH (or close to)!

Thanks for all your help and advice :-)
