Doesnt the vehicle have a tracking device; even an old one? Id have thought that if it is being driven dangerously then the police will be putting pressure on the tracker operators to locate itirrespective of the devices subscription status.

I hope you get the car back in one piece hun as thats such a cruel way to lose that amount of money my better half is currently trying to sell her cars and this story has made me realise that precautions will need to be taken and i will make sure i am present when someone comes to view.

Dont let the negative comments get to you, some people really dont have anything better to do than highlight other people's misfortunes

5 weeks ago my son was nearly killed by a driver using a sat nav and as his named driver i was able to use his rental car as he cant drive with his injuries. I had advertised my car for sale just prior to the accident. 5 days after the accident my nan died. I didnt get round to getting the car ready with everything going on.

My ins was due to run out on 11th Feb. I have a semi detatched house with my own drive, carport and garage so the car was pretty safe and at night the hire car was parked behind it but most of the time my car had no wheels on.
I had some interest and some offers so i was pretty sure the car was going to be sold.
I had tax on the car and had been online to SORN it. I did not renew the policy on 11th Feb. The car is Supercharged and the insurers wouldnt re insure it.

I did not let these asian guys take my keys and drive my car. I took them round the block. They made and recieved loads of calls but i just assummed they were getting advise about whether the car was any good. They then decided they wernt going to buy the car after nearly 2 hours. They walked down my drive and i went straight upstairs to get my laptop. (i had hidden anything of any value before they arrived).
My stairs are opposit the front door. I left the front door ajar and put my keys at the side. They must have seen me do this and followed me into the house while i was upstairs. I thought they had left. This is when they took the car. I had no idea it had gone.

They have been seen on 3 different cameras towards London and i had a call yesterday from someone saying they had seen my car not far from Yorkshire. They have passed the details on.

Yes, i am absolutely gutted. Yes i feel a plank, i have lost my car. I was selling it for £8000 BUT i did not give them the keys. They stole them from me. The police said that if they hadnt seen the keys they may have attatcked me or my daughter to get them.

It would be great if everyone would keep their eyes and ears open for my car. I am not as rich as everyone on here so losing my car is especially hard. Thanks to everyone that has given me their support over the last few days. I have never felt so low but i will be ok.

If anyone wants to know what my car looked like i am sure the 'snitch' would happily give you everything you need from my facebook account. I have the settings set to 'friends only' so to see something i have said on there posted on here is wrong. I will be deleting the last 5 people who requested my friendship in FB.

Feel free to slag me off from your ivory towers.
Thanks for telling us the full story SS. It just shows that all those who made an assumption were wrong and were running you down unfairly. I wonder if they will be man enough to apologise.

I am very sorry to hear about what actually happened. No one would really expect such a thing to occur like that. I hope that your car is eventually located and returned to you.

The whole point anyway was that we were told that you had your car stolen and the last thing that was necessary was to even mention how it happened and try to blame you anyway.

All people had to do was to commiserate with you as a member of SN instead of trying to blame you for it-innaccurately as it turns out as well.

Well put Les. And no, I don't think they'll apologise.

Thanks for all your support everyone.

I wont say too much but someone on here discovered something and i will report back when i can.

In the meantime, please stay vigilant as its not in the bag yet but i will eat my big nickers if we are wrong about this.

I am doing everything in my power to stop them having my car and hopefully they will be nicked into the bargain.

I have accepted that i lost an £8000 car (sort of) and have nothing to show for it. It was bought and paid for by me so it hurts to have it taken away from me by that scum.

As from tomorrow i have no car to drive and my daughter is registered disabled. We are fooked and its the start of the school hols so i dont know what i will do. If anyone knows anyone with a nearly free car we would be very grateful

And, no, i didnt get any apologies but i didnt expect them, only real men would do that.

If it was me, I wouldn't give the keys to an 8 grand car with no insurance to my wife, never mind leave them beside an open door. At least you didn't spank any cash on the insurance, as they wouldn't cover it anyway.

No one gave me anything for a start, it was my car.

I have a long ish curved drive and i live in a rural area, why wouldnt i put my keys on a window sill if i am in the house in the middle of the day? The door closes but doesnt shut unless pushed but it wasnt open. I cant see your point at all.

That comment must of helped you sleep that night !, a sensitive type was he or just over dramatic. I wouldn't have come out with a comment like that to a single mum and her daughter, who were already shook up over events.

Hope you get it back in one piece and not too thrashed.

Ours are on the window sill just inside the door. No point brawling over it is there?

That said, you are lucky the copper was in a good mood, could have seen you getting done for driving without insurance since you basically admitted it! You know, like when someone gives a tea leaf a slap then gets done for assualt with a bigger fine than the scroate gets for the crime in the first place.

hope you get some sort of solution from it even if it has been an expensive lesson.

5t.

Isn't your wife a lucky lady! That is a really crappy statement to make under the circumstances. How do you qualify your last statement? If someone takes your keys from INSIDE your house your insurance doesn't cover you if the keys are on the windowsill?

When we had our cars stolen we had two telephone interviews each with the insurance companies. One question that was asked numerous times was "Were the keys visible through a door or window?". The implication was that insurance co would not be happy if we had answered yes.

They could not withold paying out on that basis. I had a car stolen with the keys INSIDE the car. A claims assessor came out and interviewed me about the incident. I explained all the circumstances. A full payout was made a few weeks later.

I'd never had to claim for anything before so was terrified they would find an excuse not to pay. At one point they said there was a problem because I had failed to declare mods, I knew they had been declared because could remember the actual phone call and the guy saying "You can never have too much horse power can you?".
Surprising how guilty someone can make you feel when you haven't done anything wrong, I don't know how people make fraudulent claims and not have their heart banging through their chest (I'm the kind of person who blushes going through passport control or when I have plod driving behind me).

You have to remember it is only human beings you're dealing with. As long as they know you're not trying to pull a fast one there shouldn't be a problem.

They do. I can sympathise with that.

I once tried my home insurance provider to help me for the first time in my life, for a genuine reason. I was away on tour while strong winds caused a couple of my roof slates to attack people and objects randomly. A neighbour of mine pointed out that one slate even nearly hit his car, and one was sitting in my garden. He pointed out the latter as a concrete (or shall I say, slatey) evidence. The fact was that the one that nearly hit his car wasn't my slate but his own, the one in my garden was the slate piece that I once painted, and stuck under my cherry tree. He, of course, saw his @rse, which was mildly amusing. Anyhow, on his humble advice, I called my home insurance to fix some slightly displaced slates on my roof, in order to prevent further leaks etc. You see, the chaotic winds indeed caused some serious damage around+ my slates to move, and one slate was indeed visibly suspending to drop any minute in my house's backyard. Insurance people (Barclay's Home Insuance subcontractors of that time) made me feel so very guilty about that shift in slates, as if they were implying that I actually went up the roof, and moved the slates myself intentionally, just for the fun of it I did slate them something chronic for their sh!tty service, but it left me with a very bad experience TBH. Anyway, I left Barclay's Home Insurance soon after. I bank with Barclay, and they continue to kiss my backside year after year to go back with their home insurance. They perpetually apologise for their crappy insurance subcontractor from the past, and keep telling me that they subcontract only "nice " insurers now. But there's no way I am buying that. The deed is done. I think same is with car insurers. Some may be understanding, some may be very bad ones.
