i can agree with this, i own number 85 of the original sti's and it is an awesome car, i know what the other guy was saying about the classics, you do get them a lot cheaper than the newage, so any tom dick and harry can get hold of one and rag **** out of it, which gives us genuine enthusiasts a bad name

Few classics would withstand the 400+ bhp and >2 bar of boost my bug-eye is running.
Did like my classic, but the New-Age cars are just more planted for the "older" Ahem ! driver.
LOL
dunx
P.S. Joz you are as old as the steering wheel you feel...

Very few of my cars have remained "standard". I like to try to get the best out of things. In '66 after I passed my test, I bought a Mini which I modified for 1000cc racing, then 5 assorted Lotus (7's and Elans) in the 70's, the odd VW, Sand rail I built (on VW/Porche mechanicals), Merc, Sapphire Cossie, and first Impreza in 98 which ran 430BHP for about 120K miles, Now on 460BHP Hatch. I also owned a few vehicles not worth modding (Safari LandRovers for "outward bound" type stuff )
The classic was the "best" fun car, but the Hatch the most civilised.
If modding is in your blood, why not enjoy it ? Stuff what others may think ! If they don't like it, that's there problem ! Fortunately, the only negative comments have been "my mates car is quicker" etc etc which is easy to ignore. Just agree
Biggest regret is that the cars' capabilities far exceeded my driving capabilities - must go on more courses !!!

I have just turned 41, but bought my first Scoob coming up to 10 years ago soon.
I since bought two more and thought nothing of having all three of them on my driveway.
I get attitude from some drivers, and respect from others. Very funny how we judge and react to other drivers on the road by the cars that they drive.
A friend accused me of having a mid life crisis based upon the latest one I bought last year. All three are highly modded, but I bought it because it was cheap, quick, noisy, and as from a friend, a bargain amount of motor for the money.

We're ALL guilty of it - human nature I suppose. We project our own subjective feelings about how we feel about any given marque. Then mix that in with the 'stereotypical' driver of said marque.... Hey presto, that person MUST be 'like that' then.

I agree with what you drive can reflect your personality. Often people bring looks into this, too. I remember my young idiotic days. When I heard a throbbing Ducati approching close to me, I automatically presumed that the leather clad rider would be Keanu Reaves type of fit bloke. Then, when the guy stopped to buy a drink from the roadside store, and took his helmet off, I felt very disappointed to see that he was some 50+ Jaspor Carrot lookalike.
in early 2000, I used to see a lot of scoobs in Wrexham town centre, where boyracers with loud exhausts would go round and round by Maccys, impressing the masses of young lasses. Young girls would start chuckling as soon as they heard the rumble. Never mind drivers' personalities, but if you took notice of their faces, quite a few of them looked like Homer Simpson and that fat comedian Beckham's mate.
