I thought some games, like Black Ops, put additional security in the game over than the PS3 security... or can that be hacked now as well?

Oh dear, it's not looking good for Sony, but I thought the Xbox was hacked too.... why is this so much worse for the PS3?

 

The xbox could only go online with a jtagged box, once that was detected that xbox would be banned online forever.Currently all you need for the ps3 is a usb stick with a few files loaded on to it, and sony do not ban conoles from online play currently.

 

I have to say that there doesn't seem to be any issues with the Xbox and hacking on COD games, I know some people resent getting their consoles blocked but with whats going on with the PS3 I fully support it

 

Shame, waste of a good game

I've been playing MW2 on xbox for over a year now, got 14 days playing time (sad I know) and theres only been 2 occasions where its been stupidly hacked like whats happeneing in a majority of the ps3 games now

Should have bought an Xbox

 

I havnt had my PS3 long so all this online stuff is new to me. I was on the other night and all players were jumping over building etc, it was crap, i presumed it was a cheat and left the game, touch wood it hasnt ruined my score etc.

dont get me wrong im up for a laugh but i think some of these sad geeks need to get out a little more and stop ruining the game for everyone else

 

think hacks are bad try this guy out.it is funny but i would b so pissed if it was me he did it 29ps i know its black ops but hes on mw2 aswell)

Seen a few of his video's, I'd love to have a few games with him, would be a good laugh.

 

Before I went on today I hadn't played it for months and was 5th prestige. Now I'm 10 prestige with everything unlocked.

A laugh at first, being able to jump miles in the air etc, but pretty much ruins the game and has taken all the sense of achievement out of it.

I thought they might as well, but if you think about it they've had all their money out it now. Unless they bring out another map pack there wouldn't be much point. Pretty pish!

 

No they ain't going to sort it, they want people to move on to the new COD games so it's not really in their interest.
Especially as it is rumored that MW:3 will be coming out in November

 

Well had to see it for myself and funny enough first game of headquarters was a hacked game people can jump 300 foot in the air also a guy on the other team had some sort of aimbot he was 56 - 0 and on his kill cam his gun flicked to every enemy player also on his screen the enemy had a red box around them

quit and managed to get a normal game of teamdeath match they have wrecked the game though - miss it compaired to black ops which is ok I guess

 

Shawn, this is the first i've read this thread and i never thought it was as bad as this!

I know you asked the other day, but at the time it was ok games, but with a few guys that were stuttering a lot and you couldn't shoot them. They could shoot you just fine though.

I've played maybe 20 or so matches in TDM, but non of them have had any of the things described....maybe it's just my good luck and i'm currently touching wood.

I mostly play around lunchtime, so maybe this is when the muppets aren't online...?

 

a few other friends have not seen a lot of it either, out of my last 20 games i bet only 2 or 3 were ok. must be your good luck or my bad luck lol.

 

So this hack where all your stats are changed....how does it actually happen then? Do you have to reply to a message first? Maybe turning the modem off during the match, would stop a hack getting through, or are you already screwed?

 

Reading AVForums, it appears TDM gets the least amount of hacks.

Some guys report the same as me.

 

I levelled up from 24 to 70 in about 1 minute in one game. Getting loads with care packages everywhere. And I've noticed a menu at the start of games with things like fun mode on.

Got into a hacked game earlier and that was MTDM. Quickly came out of the match and went straight into a group of decent blokes.....i got pumped silly, but at least it was fair.

 

Well i'm well and truely HACKED OFF with these W@nkers . I cant get a decent game . I think we should all make a petition to sony as i'm so fed up, i'm seriously considering buying the x box instead as they don't seem to have the same problems . Also i was told today that ps are going to start charging to go online in the near future ? So what is the real real advantage of the ps ?

As reported last week, the issue of hacking on PS3′s incarnation of Infinity Ward’s hit shooter Modern Warfare 2 is becoming a cause for increasingly concern on behalf of the players and creators. The serious breach of security in Sony’s long thought untouchable machine has seen games such as the Modern Warfare franchise fall pray to malicious hackers who as well as creating hacked lobbies have reportedly wiped players hard earned stats and even their game progress.
Modern Warfare’s creators, the now defunct Infinity Ward have discussed the issue with concerned gamers on the groups official forum, saying the current state of the games online feature is not the wrong doing of themselves, but rather Sony, with their failure to maintain the consoles security. Robert Bowling, the developers creative strategist was quoted on the forums as saying:
“Sony has recently acknowledged a breach in security on the PS3 which resulted in games to become exposed to exploits and hacks,”

“Modern Warfare 2 is no exception to this security exploit and we understand that some of you have experienced problems with stats and other issues associated with this.”
Tensions are running high amongst the frustrated gamers, many of whom are angered and confused as to why their unlockable items and statistics cannot be recovered after such security violations. Bowling however, claims that Infinity Ward are entirely helpless to prevent or reverse the current problem, and are advising that players stick to private lobbies and play only with friends until the matter can be properly assessed and resolved. They also claim that there are lessons to be learnt from these incidents, stating that they will no longer rely on the creative brains behind the systems to defend their intellectual property from hackers.
“Let me assure you, while we are very reliant on Sony updating their firmware and security to address the core problem of this issue, we are looking at every option available to us to help any user affected.

“This only applies to legacy games such as Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2. In the future we plan to adjust our approach to not rely solely on platform security and reduce the ability for this to happen in our games, as has already been displayed by the work Treyarch has done on Call of Duty: Black Ops to prevent similar measures.”

 

Rubbish its nothing to do with the unlocked PS3 - this hacking happend way before anything was even released - theres a flaw in the game which can be exploited through a save game file - funny how it effecks both cod 4 and mw2

think i was in the same game,did he use a sniper and just spin round shooting at f**kall yet kill every thing that moved?i messaged him saying HACKING C**T and he replyed with ha ha ha cant keep up.wot a tosser, i played 6 games last nite and 5 were hacked i was so pissed off i played black ops.the unlock all hack is ok but aimbots and supermand etc is wrong if u just wanna play a game.thing is not only did i pay £45+ for the game but then spent more on the extra maps.i feel robbed big time

 

Had a guy in the sky who got 74 kills last night. Is there any point in playing the game like that???

 

no he was just using a ak47 his gun flicked to every person and killed them there were a few on the other team with like 40+ kills to 0 deaths cheating *******

and I used to moan about campers might aswell get a £10 for it

 

yep seen them ones too, just stand in middle of map and snapping round and shooting, even through buildings to other side of map, not been on for a while now, back on the black ops thing.

 

Well there is an update for security measures but the second game In and the screen was a tinge of green with typing all over it.

 

just updated mine and thought i would try it, 2 games of demolition and all was well, has something been sorted or did i just get lucky?
