After a great day out last week at Oulton my car needs a little TLC, even though I had a new set of DS2500's in the front brakes they have completely worn out after one day out so I am getting new pads put in tomorrow in both the front & rear at Wheelton Garage.
I am also getting the Pirelli tyres swapped around to get another day out of them for the big day, the rears still look spot on so these are going to the front and the worn fronts are going on the back.
After using nearly 1.5ltrs of oil last Tuesday I am also getting an oil and filter change carried out as well, best to be safe than sorry
I am also getting all nuts and bolts checked to make sure everything is secure.....>
Whilst at the track day I got a vibration on the front right wheel, again the wheel nuts had come loose like they did last year, these where nipped up in the garage and the rest of the day was ok. When I went about lowering the cars ride height last weekend I discovered that the front wheel nuts where coming loose again
I have concluded that the light weight RAYS Duraluminium(?) wheel nuts dont like getting VERY hot. So after I am finished at Wheelton Garage I am off to Buddy Club again for a new set of there racing wheel nuts which are steel, not as light as the RAYS but they wont come un done!
Whilst dropping the suspension I also noticed that a few of the suspension locking rings had also come loose
so after lowering the car 10mm these where nipped up (with a hammer
)
Whilst I was having driver tuition with Phil Glew he recommended that the car should be stiffened up at the front to help it turn in better, I advised the guys at Buddy Club of the recommendations and they have suggested the car gets corner weighted first, so whilst I am there tomorrow the car is going on the scales and getting corner weighted and having the front adjusted as advised. It will be interesting to see how far out the car is and also what difference (if any) this corner weighting makes?
So far this week I have also had my new SNELL approved helmet arrive, new gloves and boots and now I am only awaiting on a neck brace and then we are ready for the big day! I have also booked myself on the test day on the Friday the day before, it is only for 1 hour between 4pm>5pm but I am hoping that 1 hour will help calm the nerves for the day after.
Fingers crossed,
Lee

I will get the catch can fitted at the same time the sump goes on at Tracktive
If it's breathing that lost oil, then I would hate to see the state of your turbo or even worse the possible det.... Assuming your breather system is OE and returning back to the inlet pipe.

By the look of your engine bay pics your OE breather set-up is intact. Perhaps worth a cautionary call to Tracktive to advise on possible cause. 1.5ltrs is a far old whack of oil and although I am no "expert", if it not's coming through the breather I suspect it is blow-by at the rings. Regardless, it has gone somewhere I suspect it shoudn't of.
I'm not aware that you should be experiencing blow-by to this extent at this level on a sound engine and breathing that heavy is also not a good thing afaik (at least without a catch-can system).
It's perhaps all nothing (like I said I'm no expert).

Pretty good day today, new pads fitted all around, tyres swapped around diagonally front to back and my new Hyperflow sump turned up, didnt have time to fit the sump but at least it is now here.
Went to Buddy Club to get the car corner weighted and .......... it was already near as damn it spot on at 50.02% / 49.98% to everyones amazement. I found out that the cars weight distribution from front to rear was approximately 900kg front / 550kg rear this was with me sat in the drivers seat with 3/4 of a tank of juice as well.
The main thing that I learnt is that the front springs are way to soft for a car with such a heavy front end, the front springs are only 6kg, we have decided to uprate these to 10kg springs which still may not be spot on but certainly a step in the right direction. The other final decision was to adjust the damping setting, it was at 9 clicks from max so this has been increased to 4 clicks from max and more than likely will be going all the way in when the new springs are fitted.
Also purchased a set of racing wheel nuts which can lock wired, having my wheel nuts come un done on three occasions has made me a little paranoid
Pretty much ready for next weeks Time Attack round now

They need to be steel wheel nuts as per the regs Lee

I have had a really good day, sun was shining, managed a 1:37 which was my aim and finished 5th overall in a car I use every day. As you can imagine some of the cars even in my class are proper race cars.
Had a really great day and thoroughly enjoyed it, met Duncan Graham who won in Pro
and what a really nice bloke. Completely knackered right now and will leave a longer detailed write up to another day. TOP DAY OUTWELL DONE DUNCAN
Lee,
Thoroughly deserved results. Well done on achieving what you did with a moderately modified Spec C.... running conservative power at 420bhp (this is NOW the time you start playing your power figures down! lol).
Tell me when you're next at a track day and you can give me some lessons!!!!!

Dead right Shaun, I spent the day reminding eveyone it is "only" a road car!! get all the excuses in quick

As for the lessons give over, I once went to Angelsey with a different size rear tyre on my bike and a remounted steering damper, should of made it better, devastated when I came last at an event I was hoping to get a trophy

First things first get yourself back to a favourite track as you know and start rebuilding the confidence > its all in the head

cheers,
Lee.
