Cheers Steve. Much appreciated. There are plently of petrol heads that never give a thought to torque!

Torque is what 4 wheel drive is all about, it really makes a big difference. I've noticed that properly mapped imprezas really benifit in the torque hikes, as opposed to non mapped cars which can have high bhp, but the torque always lets it down.

Top of the list for my next car is a Hawk Sti (then Milltek, remap etc). An e46 is a close second. BM's hold their price better, so if I got one it would be older. My mates think I should go for the M3, although their reasoning seems to be mostly based on the badge (I realise there's much more to them than that!).

How would a an M3 and a remapped (ie lightly modded) Newage STi compare on a track, in the dry?
Blob STi PPP was IIRC about 0.9 sec quicker than e46 M3 around evo test track a few years back (about a 1 min 25 sec lap). M3 would need lots of long straights

Another thing I would add - is that the M3 is a ““better ““ autobahn car. The Germans build their cars for autobahn style performance, subaru dont. It is also a way better car to live with on a daily basis. As a refined powerful daily driver that can maintain high speeds it beats my Subaru hands down.

My car isnt a daily driver, it is noisy, loud and brutaly quick, way more fun and smile inducing than an M3. Eat my dust lol.

If I had to get in a car every day and drive it to work and back then the slightly sterile tutonicaly efficent rapid high speed mile eating M3 is the better car.
