And yet this poor little one has significantly more facial damage from a collie (have you seen how horrific the injuries from the collie bite are?) that snapped than the girl who was dragged off her bike and "savaged" by not one but two Rottweilers.

(b)any dog of the type known as the Japanese tosa; and

(c)any dog of any type designated for the purposes of this section by an order of the Secretary of State, being a type appearing to him to be bred for fighting or to have the characteristics of a type bred for that purpose.

The simple fact of the matter is that if people keep dogs as pets, these kind of things will happen.
Compared to the daily (and dare I say it- acceptable) carnage caused by cars - this is pretty small change.
A sense of perspective is called for?
Maybe a pet cat is more appropriate for those of the type who don't wish to be held responsible for pictures of the sort shown in this thread?
Or a guinea pig?

Well, today, my family pet went for someone. So it does happen.
I did not witness it, being at the hospital all day with my Mum, who had a nasty fall.
Jet has been a wonderful pet, for the two and a half years we have had him, but he does have a serious problem with other dogs.
Today, my daughter took him for his walk, the usual play spot for ball throwing, then the problem happened.
Jet got his eye on another dog. He hates other dogs. He ran and took not a blind bit of notice of my daugher. The man picked his dog up and Jet went for him
He has a nasty bite, that has needed hospital treatment. I am just waiting for the Law to call.
My dog has been a baby with us, but it just goes to show, anything can set them off.
I am so upset about it and don't blame the man at all, if he does take it further.
I have enough on my mind with my Mum, and for this to happen on the same day is really upsetting.
Dogs in general, can be viscious. Mine has proved this. I have no idea how I am going to deal with this as we love him to bits but do know he has faults. Serious ones by the looks of things

What breed is Jet?

 

Our last dog would go for anything that was a threat , ( had to be bigger than her, usually by some margin ) and if the owner got in the way she'd have him an all

But it wasnt usually serious helped by being a jr

 

O dear, bad dog Jet.
I don't want to sound harsh Lee, but to have your dog off leash in a public place is asking for it (more so if you know the animal has issues). Hopefully, the injured party does not go to the law. Then you and your daughter can take it as a lesson learnt and Jet will live to 'fight another day'.

 

I wasn't around, like I said, I was at hospital all day with my Mum.
I really feel for the bloke and hope he is alright. I am so surprised at Jet and very upset about it.
My daughter is distraught. She knows she should never have let him off the lead whilst by herself. A lesson she has learnt the hard way

Not gonna preach the off lead thing, you know it was an issue in the matter. Your daughter must feel terrible, poor thing.

But good point, even a well mannered seemingly good family pet can do something you would not expect.

 

Im guessing hands ( thereby giving the dog a chance to sink teeth in ) i dont know why youd pick a dog up under the circumstances

Surely larger dogs dont go for smaller ones

 

Sorry that happened Lee. As you say it can be so unpredictable with an animal. I hope it sorts out for the best, maybe he won't bother since he picked his own dog up at his own choice.
