Where does it say in the Terms and Conditions that interest is paid on the same date at the account opening date?

It states paid monthly and most banks calculate at the end of the month. You moved the money at the end of the month.

I am pretty sure you will get your extra £4.37 but I would be surprised if you got a response from Mr Daniels.

The best person to write to is Helen Weir, she is the CEO of the UK Retail Bank. She will have a dedicated team dealing with complaints sent to her. Daniels will simply pass it to that team anyway.

Also the number of complaints at Lloyds is measured in hundred of thousands. Only a percentage of those will raise it with the Banking Ombudsman.

Pissy, of course, your status means you'll have to fight to recoup your pennies. Normally one phone call would suffice if you weren't such a low rent customer.

Pete, keep us informed of your actions.

If it goes all the way I'd like prior information so I can clear out all my accounts, just in case you take Lloyds down.

You must be good - our local Currys has closed.

Yeah, but if he uses all the alias's as he does on here, LLOY could go bankrupt.

True, but condition 2.4 (post 7) states that the month starts on the day the account was opened and will fall on the same date each month. Bank Holidays (which are NOT counted as working days) don't really matter as long as the money was withdrawn after 28 August then interest should be applied by their Terms. He could have taken the money out on the 29th August and he would still be liable to receive the interest payments.

If you fight this as efficiently as you fought Currys, I reckon you will still be fighting it when people talk about the old days, with petrol cars and nursing homes......

2.4 If you make a withdrawal in a month you will not earn interest on the Account in that month. A month is taken from the date of account opening, and will fall on the same date each calendar month (or the next working day if this is a non-working day or there is no such date in any particular month).

It was deadly effective ...... the bad publicity and the ongoing appearance on search engines made absolutely sure that CURRYS was given the exposure it deserved - result!

The simple way to be successful is to treat your customers well ....... CURRYS failed, let's see how Lloyds do shall we?

The CURRYS episode was a few years ago now ... how time flies! Just had a chuckle over it again ...

Mrs Lewis opened an account with them on 28th August 2009 - for 12 months if you withdrew any money you would lose a months interest on the whole balance, the Interest was to be paid monthly - on the 28th of each month (or thereabouts).

Fair enough, rules understood and accepted.

After 12 months the account would revert to a 'normal' account paying a pathetic 0.1%.

Lloyds, kindly, sent the Mrs a letter in late July 2010 saying that her account matures on 28th August 2010 and she should revisit her options as the account will revert to a standard account with the relevant (awful) Interest Rate.

So, I made a note to move the money when the restrictive terms and conditions ended on 28th August 2010. We were going away on 31st August 2010 (the day after the Bank Holiday) - so, I thought, that would be the date to move the cash into another higher Interest paying account (with the same Bank, Lloyds).

On 31st August the entire funds were moved.

When we returned from our break on 5th September I went into the Accounts to move the monthly Interest payment which should have been paid for August 2010.

NOTHING in the Account!!! No interest paid for August!!

I contact them, in a 45 minute telephone call:-

1. Customer Services cannot understand what has gone on.

2. The Internet Banking arm thinks that Interest should have been paid as the terms and conditions were not breached.

3. The Accounts department say that Interest wasn't paid because it was a Bank Holiday and the money should have been removed on 1st September 2010 (a day after the day after a Bank Holiday, WTF?) to get paid Interest for August 2010!!!!!!!!

FUMING!!!!!

The Account reverted to a basic account on 28th August 2010, therefore (to me) the Terms and Conditions were now as the new account (which allows penalty free withdrawals). However, according to Lloyds Bank the Interest Rate paid on the Account dropped on 28th August - but the terms and conditions didn't change until the day after the day after the Bank holiday!!!!

I have lodged a complaint (a concern, they like to call it!) ....... I will go all the way to the Onbudsman if need be.

But, I see that Lloyds had 21,000 complaints sent to the Onbudsman last year ..... they don't seem to care in all honesty!

Rant over - Mr Lewis versus Lloyds Bank ....... what's your estimation of my chances of winning the months interest they have stolen off the wife?

Here we go again, another 20 page thread about how the man on the street beat the banking giants, the supposed small claims court proceedings, etc. etc. all over £5 worth of interest

If you think you've had sh*t service just vote with you feet, don't bank with them any more, or at least threaten to leave unless they pay up and see what happens. That is all

mmm,

you took the account out on the 28th, meaning the interest would have started midnight on the 28th (cross over to the 29th), don't forget won't be the time you deposit will be close of play that day. The bank holiday won't have a close of play so will be the next bank working day.

the bank hols was the 31st in 2009 (although not relevant due to already clearing clos of play before)

You withdrew the cash this year on the 31st, the first bank working day after the bankhols.

as i see it the account would have completed on that evening aka 31st purley because its close of play the next working day after the 28th due to the weekend and bank holiday, banks don't close on the weekend (check your account any due payments wont come out over the weekend, they'll be dated monday)

i think you may have stung yourself, is there a line in the wording says that the final months interest will clear on close of the 28th or next working day? that will be the clincher either way.

i agree there being very harsh, but i have a feeling they may be following the rules.

Possibly - all I want them to do is to operate in the 'Spirit' of the agreement ...

Hell, they wipe off £billions each year - this is diddly squat in comparison!

If they have any commercial savvy then, they should tell you to do one re the interest. 4% paying accounts (permenant rather than just for a year etc) don't exist any more.

As someone already said, just fecking leave. Obviously, customer service is more important to you than the amount of interest you receive. The time spent posting on this thread could have been used to construct a very well worded letter explaining why you wish to cancel.
So as well as solving the issue, you could have spared us all from the dribble that you keep on spouting!
