Do you really buy the police escort story Les ?
Cos thats a very long way to have not glanced the rear view and flashing blue lights
( would have to be very bad driving and/or not being able to see thro the tints )

This footage won’t play on my computer for some reason, but I can imagine what it looks like. I’m often amazed at the amount of forced used when watching these police programmes on TV. Fair enough, if the suspects are trying to escape or there is a belief that they are carrying something – but sometimes they are getting out of the car with their hands up and still get pounced on or get dragged through the window for little reason.
It’s all down to justification of force, but I find approaching calmly with the phrase ‘H’way mate’ tends to work wonders for calmness. CS gas tends to be a better option as well, rather than putting all the windows through to prevent him from driving off. The door is usually unlocked as well, so if you open it you have the advantage – grab the keys from the ignition, you can see his hands and you have the height over him.
Bare in mind as well, that age of a person doesn’t matter. You can be 80 year old and still be as fit as a 30 year old and royally kick off and cause police loads of problems. A lad of our shift was attacked and stabbed with a screwdriver once from a bloke in his late 70’s.

Just watched the video ... they knew he was old, he was driving at the speed limit with them following & they thought it wise to smash his windscreen & jump on the bonnet rather than ask him to step out

He’s defiantly being awkward with them, but so are most people. And if he‘s gone for a weapon or is trying to conceal something, then the window goes in.
But once you have him under control, then things need to calm down. There’s no need to drag them from the car or continue to put the remaining windows through.

The Force have had previous incidents with this guy,so he is known to the local coppers and yes it sometimes must be a pain in the backside when you have to deal with the same person numerous times..The cop car never even reached 45mph during that video clip,Anger and frustration got the better of these 2 coppers that day,they used poor judgment and lack of controlled aggression.The copper with the baton smashing the window almost hit his colleague in the face at least 2 times and you clearly see him having to step back out the way of being hit with the baton and broken glass.Then the other copper leaps onto the bonnet and starts stamping on the windscreen.This wasn't some crazed maniac they were dealing with..

What was he messing around with in the car before they took him out?
I wouldn't say he was dragged out, more escorted out.
It could be they have seen something in the car previously which led the to be concerned as i think they get one handcuff on him as they led him out.
You can't justify the window going in as the door wasn't even tried - and he will be hard pressed to justify putting the windscreen in

OK, but my mate on the shift got stabbed by one of these dear 70 year olds - so if its all the same, i will always treat people as i find them

That if he is well known to the police and was stopped for a minor traffic offence. During this time, they found something else (strong smell of drugs) and informed him they were going to search the car – then he took off. This may justify the hard stop to a certain degree

The bloke has given the Police loads of grief before, he has made the lives of others a misery with his Tarmacing skills ..... if your Grannie had her life savings stolen by this 'Pensioner' and his extended, inbred family you would want him sorting out!

I've followed this story on another forum and I'm with the Police in this case.
The guy is trying it on with the police and seeing how much £££ he can make from them.
If he was so I'll and stupid, why was he driving in the first place.
His car even rolled back into the Police car so no handbrake applied..... Possibly as he was going to set off again? No one knew if he was going to run again or not, so the police took the standard action inthis case, smash the ******* windows.
Have no comment on if he's a pikey scumbag or an upstanding pillar of the community, he got what he deserved.

Good point, it's probably someone from down the cop shop who works with the ***** and saw it as a way to teach them a lesson.

I'm more interested in knowing if the driver received any injuries and/or required treatment at the Police station. On the face of it, an overeraction by the Police for a single incident, what we can see of it. I doubt we'll hear anything other than blands off the Police until any investigations/prosecutions have come and gone.
