love the car i shall see this alot threw out the year as im starting to get into drifting big time hopfully goin to be getting some tips from dan chapman and a chap called liam masterson soon as i have a s14a

We modified the hubs by shortening them and rewelding it so give it max lock

paul u will 100% see me at most of the shows this year drifting is something i would like to get seriously into and enter championships and so on in a few years once ive got some practice under my belt

Just a quick update to let you know how things are going.
Due to problems last year with the hybrid rear subframe, we have decided to completely overhaul and overcome this with a new Tubular Subframe. We have made this completely in-house to our custom needs. This is still in the early stages at the moment, as we need to sort the mounting and new geometry points to allow for different set-ups. What do you think?

Hi Guys,
All the hard work over the winter has paid off! Our 1JZ powered Subaru Impreza made its competition debut at the first round of this year's British Drift Championship at Donington Park last weekend. Check out the photos below.
Amidst smoking out Donington Park Baggsy qualified in the top 16 only to be knocked out by Mark Luney's SATS Cosworth who went on to finish top in Round of the BDC.

Hi Guys
Bringing this thread back from the dead. Unfortunately we have been so busy this season developing the Team Japspeed Subaru that we have forgotten to update this thread with all the news.
The car has just completed the 2011 season in the British Drift championship and its been a tough year, we have had our ups and downs during the 2011 season with Baggsy breaking the car at the first 3 rounds with his aggressive driving style. Not to Mention the car being stolen whilst attending a static show at Santa pod!
Thankfully the car was recovered and brought home Safely back to Japspeed HQ
However ....Unfortunately the custom made drive train simply couldn't take the power and abuse Baggsy was throwing at it and alot of time was spent fixing drive shafts. The problem was cured and the car has competed fantastic since and at our final round at the Nissan factory on Sunderland Baggsy drove his heart out and narrowly missed out on the first place step on the podium, however he took 2nd place to Mark Luney in the Sats Cosworth Supra and ended the season on a high.
One thing is for sure with the dramas of 2011 over we can now take time to develop the car into a winning machine for 2012.

So everyone it has been far to long since this was updated, and the cars have undergone some major changes since i last posted in the thread.
So here is a quick update of whats been happening in the world of team Japspeed. Our 2011 season never really ended if we are honest as we literally finished the event at sunderland and began prepping the cars for the demos at topgear live show, followed by tyre testing in spain with sponsors maxxis tires again then followed by the live action arena demos at Autosport!
We must say we have been thrilled to be asked to do so many demonstrations and really believe that its helped to get drifting in the uk noticed! We have seen and met many of you at the events and given away so many freebies to so many people! ITS BEEN AWESOME!!! We have new sponsors on board this year with Monster Energy now sponsoring two of our cars and the team and also Factory Moto getting on board and providing us with all the cleaning products we require to keep them looking super cool!
On our return from Autosport we decided that we needed to continue to push forward with the builds with the car and it was quickly decided that the cars needed to go on a diet! From the feedback from the drivers we needed to get some better balance to the cars.
so after chopping as much weight out of the cars as possible we the decision was made to design a custom rear mounted radiator setup to aid cooling and also create a better balance with some of the weight being transferred from the front to the back.
The workshop lads quickly got to work with this as realistically we only had a few months before we needed to be ready for the British Drift championship of 2012! Baggsy’s Subaru was first to take shape with the team orange Subaru over in japan being the inspiration for the design. Ant did a great job at creating the intakes in the doors and if you get a chance to look at them closely you can see that they are a work of art!!
with the Subaru well under way we decide to do the same to the V8 S15, this was the car that suffered from cooling problems the most and we knew that the two turbos situated behind the front lights were not helping matters! The engine was tired and we knew this was due tot he extreme temperatures under the bonnet on race days! The design was going to have to be very different compared to the Subaru and we left ant and his hands to do the work! After a quick search on the internet Ant was creating once again some air intakes to replace the rear quarter windows and this time the inspiration was the Shelby 500 (Elenor!) Once again Ant did not disappoint the team!
With the rads fitted and uprated water pumps connected to the system and 2 x kenlowe performance fans fitted to each race car we knew we had the cooling sussed! with the cars almost ready for mapping we then got the news that Quaife engineering who had supplied us with the sequential gearbox used to cope with the power of the V8 S15 were going to provide us with the same gearbox to fit both our RB25NEO powered S15 and also our 1JZ powered Subaru! RESULT!!! This technically should mean that we never have another stripped gear EVER!!!
By the time we had the gear boxes it was only days before the cars were due at mapping down at Protuner down in the midlands. Despite all the planning and organizing we were getting down to the wire! The whole team got involved and put in some late nights to get he cars ready and we set off for round 1 of the BDC at Teesside Autodrome! This brings us to last weekend, we arrived on the Friday and got in an hours practice with a full field of drivers! All the Japspeed cars were working a dream, no cooling issues at all and the new sequential boxes were perfect! All the Drivers were on top form and we were hopeful for a good result.
Straight in to Saturday and it was visibly noticeable that Baggsy, Shane, Paul and Sullly were all glad to be back in the driving seat with them all pulling great run after run! At the end of qualifying both Paul Smith and Shane O’sullivan had made it into the top 16 battles on the Sunday, with Steve Biagioni and Shane Lynch narrowly missing out! Sunday arrived and due to a mechanical failure with one of the other competitor in the BDC this meant that everyone moved up a position in qualifying allowing Baggsy a space in the top 16!! All the cars worked faultlessly with the hard work and changes had done exactly what we needed to improve the cars, we watched the day unfold and before we knew it our drivers were battling it out against each other for a place in the final! Shane O’sullivan in the Monster S15 went through to the final whilst both Paul Smith in the 1JZ S15 went up against Baggsy in the 1JZ Subaru in the 3rd and 4th place battle!
We witnessed Great Driving with shane taking the VICTORY!!! And Baggsy coming in 3rd with Paul in 4th! What a great start!
we have to say that we are really pleased with the improvements we have made and also with the result we have achieved! A big Shout out goes to all our sponsors as without them this would not be possible! We would also like to thank any of you who turned up to support team Japspeed at Teesside and all of those that sent your congratulations on the forum! Its been good and we look forward to round 2! Time to think of what we can do to the cars Next, and i promise to try and update this thread more often!

Hey Guys here's a mega Update on the Improvements we made to our Japspeed Cars in the last few months to the cooling! See below and enjoy!
Motorsport has always been the forefront of development in the car world. Striving for the ultimate in performance to gain an edge over rivals no matter how small; is what helps make winners out of contenders. Team Japspeed never sit still in the quest for Maxxis British Drift Championship glory. The winter saw a step up on the development programme with some Rallycross-inspired modification to both the 1JZ powered Subaru Impreza and the VH45DE TT equipped Nissan S15.
The theory behind this radical cooling system overhaul was for three reasons; to gain a better weight distribution, this will aid balance and on-the-limit handling. In an ideal world, a car should have 50/50 weight distribution to give the perfect mix of nimble road holding and stability. Besides handling, the relocation was intended to reduce the power-sapping heat soak from the engine bay. Parking on a start line with a hot engine running often saw temperatures rise. A final bonus reason besides these performance gains is that it frees up space under the bonnet to work. Making quick repairs easier for the mechanics to complete when under pressure at rounds of the Maxxis British Drift Championship. Everything for this radical swap-around was done in-house by Team Japspeed’s development crew. The Subaru and S15 both share similarities and the same principles, but with some subtle differences between the two. Here’s a quick walk through on how we did it.
The first step is a scary one. After some marking out, the floor pan was chopped to accommodate the huge cooling system. No going back now!
Things progressed with lots of measuring, offering the radiator into place and making a dummy radiator box out of cardboard, this is the easiest medium to use to make templates from. Both the S15 and Subaru run huge modified Supra Mk4 alloy radiators that are from the Japspeed product catalogue.
With the positioning of the radiator sorted out, it was time to fabricate the box out of alloy.
The air has to come in from somewhere and in this application, the rear doors were chopped about to start working out the route for all that lovely cool air.
After the route was decided and the initial vents cut in, the door panel was sealed on so that none of that lovely cool air was going to waste and pointlessly wafting around the car interior.
To channel all of this air into the car, it needed some custom scoops. It was a time consuming process, but worthwhile for the end result.
The scoops were then painstakingly crafted into the doors, things are really starting to take shape now!
The radiator box was extended internally and hooked up with cold air feeds to maximise the air into the box.
The Supra radiator is huge; nothing like a bit of over kill in motorsport, so the system was further beefed up with a large alloy reservoir/header tank. The Subaru and S15 now run between 15-18 litres in the system! Helping things circulate is a powerful electric water pump.
To ensure the best possible cooling; a pair of 14″ Kenlowe dual speed fans are fitted to draw cool air in and expel it out of the rear. The fans are controlled by the ECU for pinpoint accuracy.
To further increase the cooling potential, a Subaru bonnet vent was crafted into the roof to ram even more cold air into the radiator box.
Underneath the roof scoop the air is channelled down two additional feeds.
Which in turn are connected to the air box that is located where the rear bench once was.
The final modification was to cut imposing vents into the rear boot lid. This lets any excess hot air escape to make things as efficient as possible.
With all the design aspects finalised, the side scoops were given a finishing touch and covered in the recognisable Team Japspeed livery.
Did it work? Yes! A measurable success! Previously the car would often hit 110-112c on track, now with the radiator relocation it struggles to hit 90c. A solid 20c drop in temperature! Plus less heat soak in the engine bay and more space to work. Not forgetting the weight distribution to aid handling. Literally there’s no cooler modification than a radiator in the boot!
