thanks to everyone on here for your help !!

Don't know what to tell you mate, other than unless you have it from the boss in writting then there is nothing you can do other than go else where in future and spend your cash else where or do what I do and et everything sent to me on qoute via email so if this was ever to happen I can hold them to the original price, which if you do go else where I would still make sure you do so you can cover your back in the future.

Also would like to know so pm if you wish if not no worries.

Best of luck with the rebuild and remember getthe price on email!!!

Have you got confirmation of refund from the 3PS?

At least you got it from the horse's mouth re the hours spent, so well done for pushing it. Best thing you can do now is take your business elsewhere in future.

Good luck

So the nub of this is 5 of the 13 hours was charged to a second mechanic?

Write to the garage (CC to Trading Standards) asking for a statement of which jobs required a second man and why.
The only job listed where two bods "may" be needed is removing the gearbox once its undone - but that should only be an hour at most. With the proper equipment it should be a one man exercise anyway.

i think what the garage have done is to commit to getting the job done within the day (9-5) rather than running over and needing the car for a few hours the next day, which may of not been suitable for the OP or the garage themselves. they have put another member of staff on to complete the job in the time scale they said it would be, they may of made a little human error and forgot to how long a job takes or taken one of the jobs into account when they quoted time / figures. if that makes sense.

although if it was there mess up it is a little naughty expecting the customer to take the hit of extra labour, and to save something like this happening, means the OP going on a public forum and letting everyone know the bad experience where they should just swallow it and then the customer thinks they are the nuts and sings their praises and uses them again.

i would still love to know who the garage were, so if the OP or someone the OP has told wants to PM me then great

Quite true for a small garage who doesn't do many Subarus, but it seems to be suggested that this is a specialist who should have a book time schedule and know what pitfalls are in those jobs due to seized studs etc.

butty that may well be true mate but we are all human and make mistakes, that's just life we cant be 100% spot on all the time, what does matter is how we deal with it when we do get it wrong,

also as i have said previously, this (and no offence to the OP) is only one side of the story. many times has there been posts like this and when the garage step up and state their side in 90% of cases everyone ends up on the side of the garage stating i have never had a problem with them and it will not put me off going again etc etc, just look at the last one regarding work done at the clinic.

A little bit shocking should i say about the labour cost thing....but then i can name a few other people have not been happy with the service and workmanship of this company on other things and have just bit the bullet and kept quiet about it as they assumed nobody would listen to them.
