So we have a manager on 6 mil a year who is meant to be one of the best and what does he do... revert exactly back to what Sven and Mclaren have been doing. He cant decide on a no 1 keeper, he cant sort the left side and he still picks Gerrard and Lampard in centre mid. Heskey is truly ****e it's embarrassing, SWP is not an England player. The sooner England get knocked out the better then at least I can watch the football without the **** surrounding this squad.

I think James, Upson and Barry will start the next game, 4,4,2 and Gerrard on the left of midfield, tried and tested, 2 wins, top of group

Well thats about as much optimism as I can muster right now!

Looking forward to the Holland game

So now we know why Heskey's goal-scoring record for both his clubs and country has been so abysmal over the years! He's under the impression that your are supposed to hit the ball straight at the 'keeper and expect him to dive out of the way and let it go in (like Robert Green, I suppose ). Maybe Capello should have a friendly word in their ears and we'll perhaps do a bit better next time.
Aye, I was ranting about that too...........

Has anyone on here been keeping a sly eye on the live I-Player games whilst they should be working? Come on, you know who you are, so own up.

I would never do such a thing.

Most 1st games are always poor, too much to loose. It will spark into life when teams need a win.

Give it time.

I quite enjoyed the Argentina vs Nigeria game, that was probably the most entertaining so far, bar the Aussies capitulating

All the "Big" teams have failed to shine so far with only Spain left to impress us. Only Germany showed much enterprise and cutting edge, but that was against lowly Australia, who had their best player sent-off.

As for the Group of Death (G), we are now left with the curious situation that if Drogba's Ivory Coast manages to at least draw with the lackustre Brazil side and beat the North Koreans by more than one goal in their last game, then Portugal also only need to beat North Korea by more than one goal and draw with Brazil in their last game to knock Brazil out at the first hurdle. It's a big "IF", but could be quite amusing.

The Brazil v Ivory Coast game on Sunday night is key to that Group. If Brazil win, then the above is b0llocks!

I guess I am just clutching at straws.

Edit: add Spain to my above list of 1st Round duffers. That point for England against the USA doesn't seem so bad after all!

So much for spain! Not sure whats going on at this world cup all the games have been fairly average so far.
None of the big teams have impressed me so far, maybe the germans but that was against a very poor showing from the aussies.
Got to hand it to North Korea they werent bad at all against Brazil.

Apparently the Germans have been playing with the much-maligned German Adidas World Cup ball all season in the Bundesliga. That might help explain why they did so well at the weekend. Does seem a bit unfair on every other country though.

A couple of the other big teams have had the Adidas ball, all depends on sponsorship rights that the leagues have. Premiership sponsored by Nike football supplier, so we haven't used it until the training camps

If that's true, it's tantamount to giving them an advantage........

Now, what's that guy's name, Sepp Blatter......Not German by any chance, is he?

'fraid not. He's a Swiss guy, so 100% neutral.
