cheers Swen. Got it the next time I played. Was just bonding with that horse when I tried to ride it down a 'gentle' slope. Bloody thing died!

Since then, I care less about the virtual horses. 
yes every time you hear the horse whinny ,you can hear a rattlesnake and if you stop and look it's normally curled up.

There's loads near the fort, like mentioned you'll here the rattle and it'll be curled up some where near, i got attacked by 4 Cougars, soon as i killed 1 the next would attack, now doing the Master hunter and do you think i can find one
Also the boars are aggressive things, they've killed 3 horses, mind you i was shooting at them so i can see why they were pi$$ed

I picked up a copy of this over the weekend. I have noticed a few random things though like horses stuck in the sand and people that slide rather than walk, putting that aside though i'm enjoying it.

Got this today for my Birthday and think it's superb 
Only played an hour or so and just done the side mission where the boy has been kidnapped (have to go to some purple circle on the map) and he wasn't there when I got there and so to be continued. Last mission was killing the gang and taking the leader alive. Only got a rifle and a pistol so far. What is recomended, keep going back to the bint at the farm or keep going to the sheriff?
Oh also on the way into one of the towns I saw a bloke attacking another bloke so I killed the attacker. I was then shot at loads from some others behind me and turned round and shot them and now have a bounty on my head
I thought you were supposed to help people in the game.
