That's Labour's Election and Brown's Career over!!

Its an opinion and a fair one. But at the same time we have to realise times have moved on. Cant judge everyone from the past.

I don't like the man, but I don't see the problem here.
He is entitled to form an opinion on the people he meets and he waited until he was in his private car to voice his opinions to people he trusts. Everybody does this every day all over the world. It's just unfortunate that he had a microphone on him.

This problem is 'global' though, so you can't place any blame on Labour.
They blind you with statistics when really the state of this country is just getting worse. Everyone knows the NHS is, schools are, everythings more expensive, etc, etc. Labour's always been fudging statistics. Messing around with the way things are recorded to make it look like they've done something good, when they haven't. Ask anyone and they will tell you hospitals are in a worse state now than ever. That's what matters, not some daft graph telling you GB has spent x amount improving this and that.
Already thought he was a complete **** before this episode. Not his first callous behaviour though, strains of the badly spelt letter to the mother of the soldier must be echoing in Gordon's ears right now.
he needs to go, his party and their ill thought polices with him

Another great defence statement...
This is the reality though...
1409Business Secretary Lord Mandelson says politicians, including Gordon Brown, are "human". They say things "in the heat of the moment" and "sometimes say things they simply do not mean", he adds. "It's not in his nature to want to hurt people like that," he tells Sky News.
1415Lord Mandelson says Labour is a "compassionate party". Gordon Brown, "more than any other", wants to help people, he adds, calling the PM's apology for his remarks "heartfelt".

1407The Daily Telegraph's Benedict Brogan believes this is a "gaffe that could kill off" the prime minister. He writes: "The contrast between him patting her on her back and praising her for being from a 'good family' and trashing her in the privacy of his Jaguar will horrify the Labour Party, never mind the electorate."
This is very revealing about Brown, the woman in question seemed entirely reasonable and anything but bigoted.
This is hugely damaging, I was hoping for a hung parliament and subsequent electoral reform, I guess the chances of that a now somewhat diminished....so we might all be the losers in the end

I have to agree with Mandy on one thing though...
Yeah dont we know it, I guess press conferences, and public statements are included in "heat of the moment" comments? Say one thing, mean another. I understand it all now.

Yes agreed, she is understandably angry but not a nutter or feckwit, just and ordinary woman voter asking questions...
I think this has done both Brown and NL a lot of damage and also revealed just how they really are

I will be interested to see what the opinions polls are saying over the next few days. Labour was just starting to claw back a few points... I will be shocked if thats the case in the morning.

How come you didn't pick labour In the voting thread then?
The original exchange between the Gillian Duffy and Brown that sparked his comments

Have a lsiten from 02.28 and her (Gillian's) immigration question and his answer - fantastic and no wonder he hated the interview, he was cornered and unable to get away.
He answered that "A lot of English people in Europe as well" so what does that mean then?
She has him on the railings grilling him and he looks shifty and unable to do anything but generalise with soundbites - no substance or honesty at all.

Well even the great Barak Obama fell victim to the old open mic ****-up
I do agree there is something particularly 'Brown' about all this, but I cannot believe that Clegg or DC are all smiles about folk in private after getting a grilling

I bet all the Party leaders say pretty much the same thing every time they get back into their armour-plated Limos after a walkabout with the great unwashed. None of them could give a flying f*ck about an old lady from Rochdale.
All they care about is keeping their jobs. End of.
Trouble is that Gordon's time is up.

Can't see why anyone is surprised at Brown's later comments: disagree with anything Lying Labour or their supporters say, you are either a bigot, a racist, or, in Walter Wolfgang's case, a terrorist
TBH, we've seen it on here..............

This episode says to me that the job is beyond him - he can't cope. In fact, I think he comes across as someone suffering with depression. He looks like a broken man.
And I wholeheartedly believe he is the bully people say he is. Look how he immediately blamed other people for what had happened. All that happened was someone confronted him and he didn't like it.

Having not seen the interview, I had a feeling that she may have been overly agressive and not really allowed GB to justify himself. She asked important questions and wasn't rude and didn't throw any comments back at him. She allowed him to speak and what he said was just complete sh1te.
Having watched the interview he had no right to call her a bigot because she wasn't being biggoted.
