Yep, I've sunk an absolute fortune into mine mate. Typical. I'm 50/50 what to do with it. Will post up on my build thread. lol

So not content with the engine failure on my 2.5 2006 Hawkeye WRX or my 2.5 2004 FSTI last week I went and bought this on Saturday.

What could possibly go wrong???

Thankfully this one is already fully forged. Phew.

haha. It is indeed Paul. I was so set on the C63 this time I was certain I would get one. Test drove this (after a 5 hour train ride) on Saturday and fell in love with it.

Besides, gives you something of mine to rebuild finally if it does go pop!

No idea on monthly price or finance sorry guys, as I paid cash for mine from a tuner/specialist. Wasn't cheap as its got the forged build already and came with loads of other bits in the deal too like full H&S exhaust system which I'll have to fit, another set of wheels and more. I'm over the moon with it.

Forgot to say it's currently running a VF48 and conservative map at 335bhp and 420lbft and by god it goes well considering.

thats a great torque figure for 335bhp. who mapped it? whats it like for room compared to a hawk?

Mine is built and mapped by Jamie at Evotune who does quite a few now and uses all RCM parts on his builds. He's got a fantastic setup and his own Dyno Dynamics rolling road too, he builds some amazing cars. He owns, builds and maps his own 2000bhp R35 gtr which is Europe's fastest gtr (when it was only 1300bhp - lol). This STI was in fact Jamie's own daily driver car.

inside space in the new shape STI is very impressive indeed. The floorpan is longer compared to previous models and you really can tell. Front space feel bigger as the front window seems to rake further away and just generally feels less cramped inside. Even with the seats set as they would have been in my hawk there must be an extra 4-6" leg room in the back for the kids. Yet the boot is still massive. It's great!

You also forgot to mention the seats fold down in the rear - why didn't they do this earlier!!
My mate had a Fozzie for ages, sold it, bought a land rover and is now back in one of these and he loves it.

Funnily enough I sold my widetrack when our first child arrived, had an M3, great car but you never got to exploit or enjoy it as a daily road car.
Sold, bought Focus RS Mk3, and although initially I was all excited as it was the first *new* car I'd ever bought, I ended up hating it - quite a few issues and on top of that, even with the FPM375 Mountune upgrade it felt heavy and slow and very hard ride (not CTR FK2 hard, but still very firm) and build quality just wasn't good at all, and the after sales service was shockingly poor.
Also the constant mapped in exhaust farting noises grew very old very quickly. Realised I'd made a big mistake.
Pretty much swapped it for a 520bhp C63 (the 6.2).
Absolutely love it, feels so much more raw than the M4 I test drove, and doesn't have all the lazy driver / interference gadgets like active braking radar, stop start etc. But more than that, more than anything is the NOISE and the way it just keeps accelerating in any gear, properly bonkers. Yes the gearbox isn't as quick or precise as an M3, neither is the handling, but the car has more soul than the M3 and is way more fun as a daily.
For track, M3, for daily C63 every day. Would love to try the new one but mega £££ still.

Aside from a Lambo Hurrican I still haven't heard anything that I like the sound of more than that AMG v8 .
But....I still missed the old turbo delivery of the Impreza, so now I have one of those again too . Goodbye savings hahaha

LOL. Totally agree. The sound of the 6.2 AMG engine is addictive and I will most certainly own one in my lifetime.

Yes, folding rear seats in a saloon car, can't understand why Subaru didn't do it earlier. What impresses me most is just how solid and well put together it feels.

love it!. Only problem with the new ones I find, is that if you wanna mod most of the bits are only available in the USA. Apart from that, a forged new 2.5 will
be lovely!

Nope. I couldn't just do the head gaskets and sell it on knowing the potential for bottom end failure. I'm not that much of an ****. lol.

Sadly, I would do full forged rebuild only if I were to do it, as already discussed with Paul Finch. However when I weighed up the options, eventual market value of the car it just didn't make financial sense. So the car is going to get broken most likely by Scott at Scoobyspares, although Richard at East Kent also really wants it.

Happy for someone to buy it as a project. I'm set to lose £10k on the car when it goes but my loss could be someone else's gain if they get it rebuilt. I paid my fees to advertise on here, but good old Scaabynet still won't let me post an advert and still say I'm not paid up, even though I am. So the window for private sale is closing on me thanks to the people who run this site.

Nothing arsey about it imo, could simply be the old head gasket bolt issue and nothing more But yea i get it, even getting those replaced will cost a bomb, so doesn't make financial sense, you'll make some of your cash back (well cash in pocket anyway, as you say no gain) at least by breaking it i guess.
