Regardless, doesn't make it right

People have parted with hard earned money, yet many have been treated like shyte by Subaru UK.

Thanks Alan, and everyone. I'm not sure it was Sheffield would need to check. I plan on ringing them at some point when I find out what the actual problems are from this report. Mercedes initially accused me of running with a lack of oil. Something both mercedes and subaru said is my car typically uses 1ltr of oil for every 1000 miles, not sure if that's correct? it was definitely using about that beforw my problems started as covered 3000 miles and needed to top up oil.

I bet that you're not terribly hard on the car either.

the car has the power when I need it, I don't drive like a TWOC, two babies in the car and a wife who keeps telling me the car cost a lot of money!! I've done track days in the Classic years ago so they don't interest me anymore like I was younger.

So no the car's not driven hard. Fingers crossed MY car is ok.

famous last words!! lol

I think that's a really good point, I don't drive my car like I stole it either and I can honestly say I've never hit the limiter, or even come close to it. It doesn't use any oil at all, this and the remap from Duncan gives me some level of confidence that it won't suddenly go bang. Mine is one of the first late 2007 models and has only done 27k so maybe it's had a relatively easy life. The fact that so many have failed obviously can't be ignored either

Hopefully that's not jinxed it!

Imy
I'm just coming upto 26k miles. Oil's never moved either.

Even when I put my foot down, the gear change has never been more then 4500revs and thats toeing it. So those hitting the red must be hammering it?

What's the bloody point of owning one then?

"Hey I bought a 330bhp road rocket but I drive it like a priest on the way to 23mpg every day".

You could have saved a fortune on a Golf Bluemotion.

I rev mine up to about 6250 and I enjoy it.

I agree not bouncing it off the rev limiter but you have to admit these cars are massively underwhelming until about 3200 rpm.

Seems daft to me using just 1500rpm of what is already quite a narrow range given the gearing on these cars.

Get it fixed then sell it, or have Alan or David do it,

Can't drive the cars properly, it's like treading on eggshells, no wonder they only sold under 200 in the uk.

I loved mine but couldn't deal with knowing every time I booted it, It could go pop...

I do miss it, and will be looking for a new 4wd next year, so far it's an A45 or BMW Xdrive on the company car scheme... See what Subaru drop in the sti range maybe.....

Sad state of affair really?

By the way has anybody tried to contact mike from IMgroup I saw he left and went to land rover Jag. Bet he's got some tales to tell

Can't say I worry about booting mine either Rob.

Amazing that Subaru created a performance engine that encourages owners to drive like a 90 year old lady for fear of it blowing up.

Edited for accuracy It's not like it's a Type 20 or anything

Don't think so.
I did contact VOSA once asking them, but they didn't really have a lot to say.

I know for sure, that if my 330S failed while I owned it, and Subaru UK didn't play ball, it would have been left in a place of high visibility with a big sign stating the situation, and that you should not purchase a Subaru 'performance car'
All the local press would have been contacted, and the 'issue' highlighted.

Several owners on here (one with a 330S) were bought and therefore silenced by Subaru UK.

If enough people were to contact them I'm sure they would do something.
If Mercedes do not fix my car I definitely will be reporting Mercedes to them!
not going to pay 5k for a new engine on a car I owned for 3 months I'll just take it and park it outside Mercedes for a few months with big signs in the windows, lol.

That glorious 0.00025 seconds is the reason I bought it

Yours has a blueprinted and forged engine right Stu?

What can you run on those internals?

Someone's talking about dropping the engine out of their R205 to fit a 2.35 stroker from an EJ22, but I would have thought you could run around 500 on one of them?

Along with the Hatch owners I think the dealers were hung out to dry as well by IM and customer friendships and dealers good reputations were destroyed as Hatch owners lost vast amounts of money in repairing poor engineering problems created by some penny pincher on the 2.5 Engine dept. The Subaru statement on engine failure just rubbed our noses in it for good measure. ex Hatch owner..

I dont think they sold enough to warrant getting involved.

Subaru would just call us all Pikeys and hide behind the fact that people mod them.

I know the fuel injector issue Merc had affected 10000s hence why that was on. But i know that the 2010 subaru i think only sold 175 if that. unsure of 2008 >>>.

only real cure is to get a forged block i think. id have another but after seeing the 2010 go pop id have to factor in a visit to David or Alans for a fettle.

price that into the equation and i may as well look at other options, as the Super unleaded fuel 465 a year Road Tax, just doesn't cut it anymore..

Great car though whilst i had it :/. I hope the 2014/15 STI is like that concept, cos that new WRX looks a bit shat

new STI maybe ??

My view of new Subarus must be very jaundiced.
When I saw the title of the Youtube clip, I immediately wondered if it was a coolant or oil leak.....
