bc are the cheap option, not sure if they are up to the track work
i have £600 worth of edfc in the car already

whats your opinions guys?

That's why I suggested the inverted BCs rather than the standard ones. Depends on how much you want the EFDC really

I don't know of any coilover from any manufacturer that doesn't seem to experience some kind of issue long term. Probably just the nature of using something designed for race/track on the road.
Also not sure of the relevance of edfc. Damping will have an optimum setting depending on spring rate. Adjusting away from this will only leave you under or over damped, not with a softer or harder ride
Now separate adjustment for bound, rebound and high and low speed damping is a totally different kettle of fish

If I had your disposable income I'd probably sell the edfc and get some remote reservoir, three way adjustable AST's

Are the teins remote and do they have independent adjustment for damping on compression and rebound?

Hard to say without any real experience of either but the AST'a do have true remote reservoirs that will reduce unsprung weight as well as increasing oil capacity. All of this is slight overkill but they did look bitchin when I saw them on litchfields race car

I may be able to get my BC's from my Spec C back, pretty cheap. You could use them temporarily & later on once your Teins are back, flog the BC's

That would be my suggestion aswell.

Dynamix has just swapped from Exe-tc coilovers to the BC's, so might be worth speaking to him.

Yes they are but that is irrelevant as unless the product was up to scratch it wouldnt stay on the car (or even get on the car) and I certainly wouldn't compromise my competitiveness for the sake of a deal on new coilovers. I do not get paid to have them as a sponsor nor say untruths about them. (or any other sponsors)

I ran the exe-tc last year and whilst very good, I feel the BC ER series are better suited to the use i put the car to having run them on the road for about 4,000 miles and also run them on a couple of track days and at Oulton Park last week in round 1. They are good on the road (obviously firm as they are sprung for track) but they are not too stiff to make long distance trips in my car unbearable and they cope with the crap road surface around here well. On the track, they come alive and with them i was 3 seconds quicker around oulton park this year than last. Admittedly the car was a bit lighter but they worked well.

So having BC as a sponsor is not selling out, it is sharing what I find that works. Same as any TA car - we invest a lot of time and money into competing, it would be foolish to throw inferior products onto the car in whatever form. BC ER are up to the job and have worked well so far.

Budgie - 100% recommended from me mate and Bren and the crew at Apex really know about customer service

Did you try any other manufacturers track based coilovers before deciding on the BC's?
Sorry if I sound hostile but I find it's very easy to have nothing but praise for a product when it's what you're running on your own car. I have nothing against BC's, had them on my old car although that decision was primarily cost driven. I totally agree about the customer service from Apex, they certainly wouldn't leave you grounded for 7/8 weeks

and i understand what you mean about the waiting time from tein Jim
the problem is the teins work very well for me on track and i would hate to lose that for the sake of money, but half the price is a good saving.

I think the only way forward is for you to lend me your car for a week Dunc
can you drop it round on Tuesday after 5pm mate

You are right to be sceptical, people will say anything for a deal but I think I am known for speaking my mind on what works for me and what hasnt. Obviously I have used exe-tc coilovers for the past 2 years and they are widely acknowledged as the 'best'. I have also been in hundreds of subarus with variety of coilovers in the course of the mapping that I do and I have always been impressed with the ride quality of the BC systems. I evaluated KW and Nitron for the switch but decided on BC because of Bren and his team - good support and good UK support from people that understand our market and our needs at that means a huge amount. Budget was a consideration admittedly and if I had unlimited funds then a different decision may have been made but I do not feel that i have compromised the competitiveness of me or my car (nor the ride quality for daily duties) with my choice. Time will tell on life of the coilovers but I could afford to replace them 3 times and still work out cheaper than exe-tc's equivalent.

As a side note, even the exe-tc race spec system does not offer the true ride height adjustment that BC ER does whilst still allowing fully suspension travel.

Pete - you would not be disappointed at all going down that route - in fact quite the opposite IMO.

update time
the new teins are in stock so i will collect them saturday
I am replacing the front end body parts now
new mesh grills are in manufacture should be sprayed and ready to fit monday
fiestaboy booked for next week to complete service bits
dsa booked for geo setup
big clean up and then off to japfest at the weekend

all front end now replaced
front grills looking just how i wanted them
intercooler nice and shiney
front shocks are on(thanks for the help Rich)
car is at DSA tomorrow for geo set up
tickets for japfest arrived today
track time pass arrived too, subject to db
and all in only 4 weeks
