hope not mate but hey at the end of it all (which is all the pleasure of it)we have new brakes which will perform properly with peace of mind.

HELP im having the exact same problem,cant seem to remove the disc without the shoes etc coming with it!!!!! anyone know what to do?

On the backing plate, should be a small oblong rubber bung in the hole.

yes its a small ish screw ,a flat blade screw driver will undo it provided shoes weren't as bad as mine where in pics before.

so its the one behind the plate which is a big oblong type bung yeah? and all i have to do is tweak it back up after disc has been replaced?

yes mate whats youve changed discs and shoes put it all back together test handbrake and adjust accordingly .just remember to replace bung afterwards maybe stop the hassle ive had mate.

only replacing discs,would that mess up the procedure at all?

ive popped the bung out,and it seems you cant even get a screw driver in there straight,cant feel anything there?

When I done mine about 2 weeks ago, they did take a bit of wigglying to get them off, and a couple of taps with a hammer it set them free.

Hope you get them sorted mate, there rears are def more a pain in the *** then the fronts

i think id be wiggling all day,i can get them so far then if u look at the back its like the brake shoe assemvbly tries to come of with it,dont want todamage nothing either,

sounds like your up against it like i was mate,you may have to go down the route i did get them off with brute force ,if changing discs wont matter damaging them may have to change shoe assembly like me also let me know how you get on shoes arnt dear £19 a side its the springs and clips im struggling getting,but mines off the road so not a problem yet. good luck

im worried ill damage something by beating the disc off as the shoe assembly is coming with it!

can get it moreless off on one side,but cant beat the other side as metal plate is in the way!!! i may have to give up as i got to use car in a couple hours!

You won't damage anything that can't be replaced ie disc's, shoes

gonna give up i think,got to use the car in a couple hours!there must be an easier way with this handbrake adjustment thing,im sure main stealers are not beating f*** out of it to get it off.

just takes a bit of patience mate they do come off like i said earlier on the post it took me all day to do both sides as you can see in the pics.
understand you need to use the car,maybe worth taking in to reputable garage to do but remember £40 h/r costs...sorry to hear your having trouble,good luck!

now its really pissing me off,ive put it back 2 gether and now the brake ive been messing with is making a grinding sound and is getting hot,,think i may have mis shaped the disc slightly! will this grinding go away after a bit of driving? wish i hadnt f****** bothered now!

Get a medium length screwdriver, with a flat blade and bend it about an inch from then end.

The mechanism through the hole is toothed, you need to nudge them up or down dependant on side, I can't remember which way per side though, sorry.

When you have the discs off, you can adjust it from the outer side, few clicks, try disc etc, until the disc slides on snugly but smoothly.

I should have said this earlier, sorry.

Be wary of braying the disc off as you may damage some of the handbrake mechanism.

thanks for that,gonna have another go tomorrow,hopefully i can do it as now the rear brake ive been messing with is making a bit of a grinding noise now,
