Funny you say that but yesterday Rich said the same thing while I was instructing him on how to change the diff step by step. He also thought I should maybe write a "haynes" type manual for him & other MSOC menbers who are'nt as technically gifted as myself.

Got a Zen reconditioned R180 plated rear diff from MustiTypeR, cheers mate & also thanks to Omar for helping with it.
Yesterday good ol Rich at FB Tuning fitted it & what a difference, the car has completley transformed itself & drives like a peach. I did'nt fully realise how bad the old diff must have been until now.
Back on the rollers to check the map in the next couple of weeks as last time was a waste of time/money as diff was knackered Hoping to pull approx 310bhp or there abouts. But I do have a way of jinxing everything in life!!! lolol
Then I must get round to fitting my gauges, had them for months sitting around gathering dust.

This weekend managed to get over 300bhp & 300ft/lbs torque at Motorwrx Marlow with Rich (FB Tuning) mapping. Hoping to finish map on road soon & may lean it out a tad more. Car drives awesome now from where it was before at approx 265 bhp & similar torque.
After driving Monkey's well sorted Type RA on the day I realised that my airy fairy handling is the next issue that must be adressed, especially now that its going a lot quicker!! So on the list of next things to do:
-22mm adjustable rear anti roll bar
-Uprated shocks/springs (secondhand) plus rear Camber bolts
-or BC BR Coilovers
-Anti Lift kit - maybe?
-Brake stopper kit
After that I will keep any eye out for uprated brake disks maybe & who knows I might find a keenly priced TD05-20G on my travels too!!!!
ps I will soon be puting up for sale my brand new Prosport Elec Stepper 52mm gauges & also my lovely jubley beautiful Zerosports triple gauge pod from Japan So if anyone's interested let me know before I stick it in the for sale section this week.

VF 34 with quick spool up and usable power from 3200 rpm is the way to go with the suporting mods....

Yeah most probably will not bother with the bigger turbo
Gauges & pod cost me approx £300 so they will help fund my suspension mods. Also I have a different idea for a more stealth, single digital pod that can read both oil pressure & oil temp, which I will do later on. The Apexi does the rest anyway.

If you want to change the turbo, then VF34 + 550's is the way to go, Ricky.
Sort the suspension + handling, shed a bit of weight (from the car LOL) and it will be sweet.

A bit of highjacking..... I've sorted out my rear shock knocks, stickings etc for 6 quid. Dunno how long it will last, but it can't be any cheaper even if it lasts less then 3k miles. Ricky , it took me 3 hours to strip and grease 2 rear shocks.Yes i got my hands dirty, but this is how u learn and eventualy u save loads of pennys. So whenever u ready, i'm free on thursday we could do yours. Just need tools. Got some of them thought. Still got grease as well.

Its been a while, got rid of that DC5 virus I picked up a couple of weeks ago! lol Back to some modding I think
Already did the Motul brake fluid & solid rear droplinks from CDF Racing & full alignment, but still not liking the front end understeer & bluntness. As well as the occasional spongy brake feel under hard braking. Also got rid of the Spacers too, alright for shows but not for driving IMO.
-So got hold of the Tegiwa aluminum brake stopper kit a couple of months ago in a group buy.
-Should be buying a set of new Eibach springs from Alan this week (same as uprated prodrive ones), which will firm up the handling & lower the car approx 25mm to 30mm.
-Also just ordered some Eibach rear camber bolts too.
All this lot will hopefully get fitted in the not too distant future. After that I'l see if I still need either/and an Anti Lift kit & 22mm adjustable rear ARB. Then full geometry once again
Im sure the ALK will help a lot & then maybe a brake pad change from current "EBC Red-rubbsih Stuff" to something like DS200 or the like will improve things. I dont think a BBK upgrade is warranted yet at the 300bhp mark in a 1200kg car.

Thanks to Rich @FB Tuning & Alan for supplying & fitting my new Prodrive (Eibach) lowering (firmer) springs as well as dismantling & re-rgreasing shocks, fitting Eibach rear camber bolts & a Tegiwa brake stopper kit.

I think this good ol minus -13 degrees temperatures are not doing my Japanese "god knows how old" battery any good!! Its not getting charged with my heavy duty battery charger & just about cranked the car this morning. So got myself a Halfords HCB005 calcium battery that comes with a 4 year garantee! Thanks to John I got his trade 1/3 discount, we nipped down to Halfords Watford & he had it fitted in 5 mins. Cheers mate.

I wanted to buy a recently imported, Classic Type R that was in good condition but almost standard & unmodified. The best way to buy a classic IMO unless its a known build by someone reputable. And its not as much fun buying one where absolutely everything has been done already, cheaper yes, but not the same as doing it yourself! I was lucky enough to a find a mint Ver6 Type WRC Ltd, the last run out batch of the Type R, there's only 8 of them registered on Scoobynet at the moment. Being recently imported gets around the problems of lower octane causing det issues with the JDM map. Also taking a specialist mechanic with you to inspect the car also helps in buying a good'un, thanks FB Tuning
The main criteria for this car is thats it is to be driven almost everyday, doing approx 150 miles per week. Also the occasional blast on the weekend with the MSOC, so it will have to perform occasionaly. For this to work spot on we first have to assume, that being a 10 year old car, we have to look at everything & anything. It must be first made mechanically sound, paying particular attention to longevity & reliability, looking at known issues that these cars can suffer from. After which I wanted to improve upon areas where it was lacking, out of date & needed an update/tweek. This did not mean changing everything wholesale & raiding every after market manufacturers catalogue, but instead improving upon the original design thoughtfully. In a sense I wanted to imagine if Subaru were to release the Type R again today, as a one off retro special edition, what issues would they address & improve upon.
