Lovely day hopefully still nice when the scoob comes out to play just had a new quote for insurance 1200 sweet come down 400 quid so happy about that can't wait to get the car bck now !!!!
It's way too hot to be working in direct sunlight for me (it can give me some seriously bad nose bleeds) and I'd rather be sat in the shade with an ice cream anyway
I won't be attending any meets till I'm 100% the car is ok as I'm still not happy with it

What do you feel is still wrong with it? Have you made David aware of all the issues you are having so he can get them resolved for you?
The sun is great. Took the Scooby to work in the afternoon, I've moved offices a few months ago and merged with other organisations. A few new colleagues were in the car park when I got there.. I think they were a bit surprised
The hidden chav mobile lol !

The car is still smoking quite badly and it stinks like it's burning oil too, I have mentioned this to David and he said that it's ok for it to smoke and that his old car used to stink all the time and that it was just one of those things.
I don't think that it should smoke or smell at all, my old uk car used to smell like fuel if you gave it the beans after cruising round for a while but this is an oily smell not fuel

Interesting. Smoke from exhaust? Engine bay? Have you been checking the oil to see if it's burning any? Coolant?
Does it have wrapped exhaust headers by any chance? They've been known to make some funny smells..

Lol yea they all smoke and smell of oil honest didnt u know that lol ring Subaru and ask them if they smell of oil and smoke I think they will say no ! What a nightmare that car is from day 1 feel for u m8 .
it is the exhaust smoking and can be quite heavily at times and then other times nothing, I am checking the oil every couple of days and it doesn't seem to be burning any but I am only giving it light use at the moment due to the uncertainty.
The downpipe is wrapped but the wrap is so old its actually coming off in places (it looks like its gone crisp) so I'm very doubtful it is the wrap that smells especially as the smell is only there when the smoke is there

especially since seeing the 650bhp evo 8 that was at pole the weekend
Unfortunate
Is it just from start up or does it do it at other times too? I know you've already had some oil taken out as it had too much in it, but I've seen others have similar issues with too much oil before, and normally removing the excess solves the problem.
I hope you get it all sorted!

I can't see how removing the original exhaust and replacing it with restrictive OE pipes help things either especially as its been remapped to that setup.

I still think its the head gasket... Big white smoke screen points to coolant burning doesn't it? Oil smell through the vents and the fact that its been stood for ages, possibly with no coolant and just topped up with water instead maybe? Get it all the time with trucks where drivers don't use coolant and just top up with tap water instead. It eventually rots things like gaskets and core plugs. Obviously this is a total guess but the amount yours smokes, it must point to a problem. How are your levels now (coolant and water)?

How bad is it smoking? Plumes of smoke? What's the mileage?
