Primarily strip and refresh, but also a 2 litre CBD instead of the OBD, with RCM double valve spring kit and titanium retainers as well. Rest of engine is all RCM kit already - its been running around 450bhp, 6 speed dccd, exetc, etc. Pretty similar spec to yours bar the 2.15, oh, and the bling . I'm also the bloke who lives quite near you in Blackheath so we'll have to go out to compare once both are run in

Sounds like a plan - I'm banking on the chrome and bling weight balancing out your 0.15litre advantage... there again, the dirt on mine will probably outweigh your bling

the amount of paint in my engine bay is going to seriously effect my P-W ratio LOL!

I'm keeping stock ECU and 550cc's so i won't be using the 321T to its full potential, but should be able to just break the 400nhp barrier within the safe duty of the 550's if we cap the boost when mapping time comes.

Nah, buy some bigger injectors and get on with it. You know it makes sense Motec M800 here and 740's.

Intend staying at my current levels 450/380 as it makes for a good road car and fun track car, but CBD and rest of spec could handle far more so just thought I'd future proof heh heh. 400/400 ish in yours will still be a shock after what you're used to and will be a devastatingly fast car in the real world as opposed to say the drag strip as more power generally equals less driveability.
PM with full spec sent

I hear you knocking John, but my probelm is:

1) i will have drivability issues using 740's with the OE ECU that relates to the low duty cycle and i don;t have the money to purchase new ECU and Injectors.

2) Even if i could afford the new ECU and Injectors, i would not want to run the 321T at full power as it will batter my poor gearbox and clutch

Easy peasy solutions to your points - don't drive any way except flat out and my 5 speed seemed OK with my power. I don't do drag strips or Traffic light gps ( generally ). I swapped to a 6 speed eventually, again for future proofing and, well, because I fancied it. Ratios are more like a Type R/RA on this power i.e. short. Still on my original 5 years old RCM supplied 5 speed AP Racing Organic clutch.

Just got off the phone to Spen and the car won't be picked up till the 9th April now

There has been a delay with mine and FatBoy's P1's due to some extra work required on some inconsiderate git's car... *cough* Coalville *cough*

But on the plus side, i have just declared everything with the rebuild and turbo and exhaust and suspension etc etc etc to my Insurance companu and guess how much it went up? £59.00 Good old Greenlight, they are just Brilliant!

I have however, just bought me some BC Racing Coilovers to give them something to do with all this extra time they now have on their hands

Ah that's where FatBoy's little baby is hiding
Oh no, you won't be able to make it to the 10th Anniversary then either John?

Spook, 400Bhp in a P1 is a lovely balance for a road car and as John said you will be pleasantly surprised at the power
I have experienced power jumps in my P1 from 310 to 400 to 450 to 500 and then to the current 562 Bhp.

Do your self a favour and hang on to your P1 and aim at 500+ long term. If you do, don't opt for huge turbos as it wont be ideal for an everyday car.
Keep with a 30 ish and go down the Meths route. As John mentioned most of the few proven 500+ Imprezas are drag machines or stripped out.

It's a very different story on the streets and in the lanes

I am surprised Fatboy has not delved into the 500+ club?!! (come on John you know you can) .....your wife will lurve it

I plan to keep it for a very long time! defo until i break the 500bhp barrier with a fuel mix. My next step will be to 450-460ish once i have the ECU, injetors, box and potentially clutch to handle it too. Then once i'm bored of that new turbo, and a cheeky mix.

Me and John will both be at the meet, John's is being completed before mine

Errm which John? This one wasn't planning on going ...coalville p1 john I assume.

Clive I've held out for a long time against going nutter turbo levels, as you know, given that i had an open deck block and ordinary studs/bolts and because I don't do drags and i like its real world driveability.
However, I now have a CBD, 14mm bolts, RCM titanium valve spring conversions and nice valves to go with all the original RCM bits so it would easily swallow your sort of levels if I were to slip and drop a large blower on... I'm still trying trying to resist, but will be having ALS and launch control switched on by Bob R instead. Maybe when i've had a run in yours I might change my mind - my wife already hates it so another 100 bhp wouldn't change much

Fair play John, come if you can

Latest pics from Spenbot himself… FMIC pipes etc all removed and engine is now out and heads will be with Nick @ Advanced Automotive later this morning.

I feel quite traumatised seeing my poor baby being ripped apart

But progress is being made

Was going to go for Inconel (spelling) valves but budget wouldn't permit. Even though i've now doubled it in hind sight

They'll be good for upto 500bhp, and before i get there i need to change the box, clutch, injectors, ECU, Turbo etc. Once all thats done, i can pay attention to the heads / valves etc.

Got to do it in stages due to funds

I know that feeling mate, that's why mine's taken two years so far lol.

All I need to finish mine now is cams clutch and ECU. But that's still roughly £4K's worth

LOL Fair play to you though for having a goal and not digressing I 'may' be having a Syvecs ECU in the next few weeks depeding on a deal i'm trying to do ATM. MASSIVELY clutching at financial straws This decision is Clive's fault for turning up round mine in sunday and showing me his launch control

Out of interest, anyone have any ideas as to what bhp/temp limits the stock valves will cope with?
