Yep Mneame / Stu are correct.

I just checked with Shell of MLR and all filming & photos are for "personal use only"

Yet there are numerous clips of track days etc from Marham on youtube?
Maybe a straight blast down the runway is ok but footage that contain buildings/RAF owned equipment etc on the base are not permitted which would prove understandable?

I have a class "A" vetting from the Home Office that allows us to work in any Military, Police or Government building, unit or compound and we have carried out works in many secure locations including munitions storage facilities, munitions testing chambers (8 levels underground), and many others and we even have to leave our phones at the security gate, yet Marham allow photos & filming on the day? so it cannot be classed as "high risk" as you would not get a camera in the place.

I read the "personal use only" as you couldn't use the pictures/video for promotional stuff etc or make a profit from them

There was no filming or photography allowed last year so best just keep quiet about it as they mnay just change their minds and not allow it again.

PMSL .... poor Daz, (good to have met you today Steve (at last)

Onboard cam of my first tun. We filmed 5 runs, trouble is when we thought we had hit record, it paused, and when we hit button to stop recording, it started recording derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr HOWEVER I now know for next time ;-)

You will hear a strange noise at the start of the film when I turn right. PS20 kindly had a look (Steven D thank you mate) and nothing to worry about. RCM will be on the case and sort it. (Bush)

I wasn't to sure of grip levels, surface conditions, high speed braking conditions bumps etc as I had never been there before so this first run was not going to be mad.

Unfortunately it's the only one that got filmed

Can't win these days.

I bought the only alloy bonnet in the UK from RCM for Project 2.

Olly strongly advised that it be collected rather than delivered by courier. Using couriers a lot I fully realise the average delivery guy has the same IQ as the Common Fruit Bat, or is the kind of mutant that throws down your parcel gives you a pen to sign and mumbles something in Russian.
So I spent £ 130.00 to pay a guy & fuel to collect it and take it to SPR Coachworks. (The guy was my son who works for me).

Just had a call from SPR telling me one of the corners is bent over at 90 degrees

Weather you live in Somerset or Newcastle, you will probably hear a distant scream from my son when I punch this left ear extremely hard

I bought an ally bonnet ages ago and when that was delivered the corners were bent, mainly due to packaging as they had nothing to stop the corners from bending

Logic still defies me to this day.

Similar to buying a goldfish, and a goldfish bowl from a pet shop, then bubble wrapping the fish and put the glass bowl straight in a cardboard box.

Surely it's more than obvious so why not protect 4 corners properly from the factory??

Good job. Although not what you'd want to have to do. How's the boy's ear?

I have only just noticed this project Skullfudge.

Good luck to you both, especially if you keep to your original budget.

Are you still keeping the P1 btw?

Sorry fellas:-

Yes, his left earlobe is strangely twice the size of his right one

Thanks Ste RB5. Yes I will be keeping my P1. I shall never sell my little riot.

Mark: Yep 30 - 130 was a great day. The needle could have gone a bit more. I still had a 1000rpm left and about 200 Mts to the red blocks. Needle may of bent if I carried on

wrxbart: really pleased with the shell. Adrian was a nice fella.

Regarding P2 Daz will be starting soon as the block is now finished and the heads are being sorted.
Pics & info will be coming soon.

Nothing major to report. I have a straight forward rebuild on an STI 5 to finish this week and then it's down to RCM to collect the block that has been converted to WRC 14mm Head studs, converted to rear thrust, block faces skimmed and honed to suit each piston.

One other development is that I've decided to swap the S6GP Syvecs/Solaris for a Plug and play one as it's the more sensible option now that we're not running AVCS heads. This makes wiring easier i.e there's hardly any to do.

So the replacement Syvecs turned up this morning.

This goes into an OEM case.

But the OEM case needs a little work first.
First step is to open the case up.

Then remove the OE ECU board.

Put the PnP Syvecs board in it's place.

The main ECU connectors are ok but the comms ports for the Syvecs meant that the OE case needed a little alteration.

Time for the Dremmel, and to cut a small portion of the OE case away.

Voila!!

One PnP Syvecs ready for fitting

Now what to do with the STI V3 ECU board, ah yes that's right, the bin as they are facking useless!!

LOL Fair point. I was struggling with the Dremmel. The cutting discs just kept snapping. Cheap B&Q ones. I wish I'd have just got the grinder out. Not that it matters it will be under the carpet in the passenger footwell anyway.

It also just goes to show that this is a real world project not just one that shows you all the nicey nicey pictures!!
