Can buy handheld code readers and these have a reset facility. Cost about £30.

Worth having one in your glovebox in case the CEL ever comes on.

Battery off doesnt reset newage subarus.

The ECU is under the passenger carpet.

Yes it will, but it will take longer than 20 minutes....

I had a CEL, due fitting a sports cat, took the battery on holiday for a fortnight, and when I got back the CEL was gone. Though this may NOT constitute an ecu reset.

P.S. Which bluetooth enabled device will work with a (std ecu) on my 2002 STI Type UK, please ?

A CEL light will clear but like u say thats not a ecu reset, most cels will clear after a few ignition turns if the fault has gone, it will be stored in the history though.

Yes, I get that you were generalising. The trouble is that the generalisation you were using was inaccurate. The reason why I pulled you for it, apart from the fact that you're factually incorrect, is because, otherwise, we'd probably see a post on here in a few weeks where someone asks why the CAN cable he's bought on eBay on the basis of your post won't connect to his bugeye. Better to correct it now than do so then.

...or indeed twisted pair. Generalisations are fine. Incorrect or potentially misleading generalisations aren't.
All very true! I dont mind being corrected on here. Like you say, the things i talk about is not always the correct explenation on here but inside of work, its understood. Oppps. When I talk about "CAN", wrongly I admit, I was being genral, the diferance between hardwire and ECM coms. and is it 30 twists per meter or 40 for your twin twist he he he. Yes, I know the differance lol
