For a Hawkeye I would love to know what all these extra special JDM bit's are over the UK version..... apart from a rear wash wipe!

A UK Hawkeye is a very capable car...... to a certain power level (before anyone says).

I think you're talking about a std WRX and even then that's not quite correct.

No std 2.0L STi i know with a VF35 of runs out of puff by 5000rpm. You'll find the boost and wastegate duty maps on these start to tail off quickly by 6000rpm but that's by design.

Past 7000rpm and my old VF35 was stil making over 1.1bar. Peak boost at around 5000rpm it was making 1.4bar, and tailing off to a 1bar at max RPM. Again by design

ETA: I was maxxing out my MAF on a VF35 which makes it a very capable turbo for a std bit of kit.

i could be wrong, but im sure a mag tested a prodrive 03 model newage and it ran out of steam, i had one and it was a bit gutless after 5k, maybe it was the prodrive bit

They are gutless after 5k..... when you get in to a car with some more horsepower and a wider rev range and discover what that is like. It's all relative depending on what you are used to.

I think a car with a turbo that comes on boost by 2800-3000rpm and keeps going to 6500-7000rpm could be described as having a pretty reasonable spread of power in real world terms. It may not be 500 or 600bhp but then you're absolutely right....It's all relative.

I have had a wide range of turbo's and have thought the same of virtually all them. It even makes me laugh when people say a 20g turbo or a hybrid twin scroll turbo pulls all the way to the red line. I always seem to think 5500rpm is where the power tails off on most turbos

The main gauges sweep on 05 onwards cars but they don't come with Defi's.
