I wonder if you would have displayed quite this level of objectivity if it had been you buying the car. Yes we all know what the law says and Caveat Emptor blah blah, but what happened to morality and honesty.

That is why I am extremely reluctant to buy privately. A recent purchase from a dealer went very pear shaped but I took it back and got my money back which wouldn't have happened had I bought privately.
As for honesty and morality do me a favour, the buyer turned up with a couple of hundred quid less than he had agreed and tried a fast one on the seller. Had the buyer been straight up then more people may have been more interested in the state of the car rather than they buyer trying it on over a couple of hundred quid.
