The deal was £1200 cash and your car if we met you half way. NOT petrol expenses!

You paying me £50 doesnt mean the case is closed, it means you still owe me £50, simple as that.

The members of SN now know not to trust you when it comes to paying for stuff, so in that respect im happy.

And im prepared to lose £50 and learn a lesson. That doesnt mean you dont owe me it.

Paid in person? You really think im gonna drive 140 miles for £50, get real!

Like ive said, you have my paypal address. Use it and the case IS closed. Otherwise, expect me to pop up every now and then when your trying to buy something or sell something.

i'd feel like taking it back and getting my money back (not offering), and if i thought i'd been seriously misled/ripped off woud take it further not give another £50.

Almost all of this stuff is stuff you should and could have spotted when checking the car over before you handed the cash over. I think 2 harsh lessons have been learned here: don't let your car go until you have all the cash and don't buy a car with your eyes shut.

I know neither of you but this seems more than fair from what i've read on here, obviously there could be issues with spent money and the other car.

A proper test drive and inspection would of shown up most of the above faults, if they exist.
Maybe take someone in the know with you next time when viewing a car.

If i still had your px, i would get a so-called engineers report on that too. I'm sure it would have come up with a massive list of issues that need fixing.

I explained we bought the car for the number plate but it needed MOT'ing before we could remove it. We had it MOT'd, took the plate off and advertised it. We drove it about 400 miles after the MOT with NO issues what-so-ever.

I think you're mechanic is taking you to the cleaners and i would suggest you get a 2nd opinion.

As has been said, getting a report done AFTER you've bought the car is a bit stupid anyway.

I advertised the car with all known faults, bearing in mind we only had it long enough to get it MOT'd and transfer the number plate.

Not taking sides but surely you should have noticed some for those problems when you when to see the car ie 4 bald tyre's.

cj - you clearly know absolutely nothing about cars.
If you did, you wouldn't have bought what, on your 'engeneers' report, is clearly a lemon.

Could you not tell the tyres were bald, did you not test drive it, could you not hear the engine mount, did you not..... you see where I'm going with this?

Baffling beyond all belief that anyone would buy such a car with such faults and then try and get their money back.
That's IF such faults are actually real?

any ways ive had enough definding my side now, im happy to return the car fixed but obv you wont do that as ur glad you got rid when you did,

the car will be back to 100% by the weekend and will bring it back to you on sat, i have ur address from the v5, so i hope you have my money and u can have the car FIXED back on your door step!

cant say fairer than that! ive bought/sold loads on here and other forums and any one dealt with me in the past knows me im 100% fair and no messer

i agree with everyone stating i should have checked over the car better, but i supose lesson is not to trust a mans word!

you can have ur car back sat i hope ur in! see you then!

It seems to me that a Dog was sold as a car and a numptie bought it - but doubted the wisdom to the extent of holding back £100.

The seller shouldn't sell a dog, but it happens in todays world.

The buyer should look over the car and get an inspection if any doubt, daft buyer IMO.

The seller shouldn't accept £100 less than agreed, but thought that he had a muppet buyer and couldn't risk losing the deal, as another muppet buyer may take a while to arrive at the door again.

The buyer shouldn't have tried it on over £100 ... and then pay £50 back!

I doubt the seller would want such a wreck back, and will not want to give any money back (he doesn't want to see the Pug ever again!) ... lessons learned all round.

If a seller offers to drive halfway to me to sell a car then I am suspect, very suspect - a good car doesn't have to travel to sell - but wrecks do!

Would the MOT not have picked up some of those items especially the bald tyres....I find it impossible that the car could have been in that bad of state and if it was it owuld have failed and you should have spotted anything else.

You agreed a price then that is the price you should pay.

If you were unhappy with what you were getting then you had every opportunity to walk away. But you didnt.

You promised to pay the money you owed and you have not done so.

You sir, are guilty of deception. You are a toad.

i questioned him about the mot wen he wanted to take the action to court, i said an investigation would be made into the station as the car as it stood was in no way mot-able! so either £5 for the blind eye was paid or you know some peaple,

any way i dont know why this is any ones problem but mine and boro's, ive paid half as problems are on both half ( car not as described, and me not checking it properly) there for £50 is more than fair,
or im happy to take the car back in full working order! how can i be more fair!?

Is Boro a dealer?

It does seem so - if so, you have many more rights than you could imagine ... the car should be roadworthy, at the very least.

If you have evidence to state that it was not roadworthy, then it is a criminal act to sell such a vehicle ... especially when it was sold as a roadworthy vehicle.

But this is all rather public - I suggest you both try and do the right thing by each other.
