The S204 map you see is that via ecutek? at the time i did the map they never had the S204 map it was just a standard STI map.

I also have the ecutek software as i had to work with an tunning/emissions expert who has worked for major manufacturers to get a few cars through esva and at the time (year ago) ecutek didn't have the correct map.
Dont have a clue how to use it anyone fancy buying it off me cheap and you can start mapping!

The Map I have is the ROM directly from the ECU nothing to do with ECUTek. You don't need commercial software to read/write and tune these ECU's. I'm assuming they used their standard locked ROM they put on all of the JDM STi's.

From looking at the fueling does it not tell you the injectors are maxed out?

Can't tell, would need to log it, but it is running rich, same as every other JDM map. Retuning and targeting 11+ AFR would easily max that turbo before needing bigger injectors.

After previous issues with other mappers, i have not only spoke to Simon on several occassions, but he has been very helpful with advise and his experiance. He also mapped my car before i bought it last year, he has been very accommodating sorting things out for me.
He will be mapping my car in New Year for sure. I cannot understand why this thread has even been started, i know its an open forum but ffs Simon is a very competent mapper and will bend over backwards to please, but like the old saying 'you can please some people some of the time but not all people all of the time!'.

Hi Juggers,

I remember your car well.

You booked it in with a trader whom i used to map for.
So I couldn't advise you beforehand of anything as I never spoke to you beforehand.
Also the trader drove and I mapped and it was down to them to say what you wanted rather than you. The standard s204 map (I do have a copy, not sure where the idea I didn't came from) is very rich and very advanced timing.. iirc I was also told the car was sold to someone in ireland and needed to be safe on 97ron.
The standard map make reasonable peak power but has room for improvement through the rev range and unfortunatly dets.. so the first task is to make it safe and then work from there on more power.
I also set the knock control on it very active. if it saw det it will adjust the timing very quickly to keep the engine safe. I believe from the graph I saw that it pulled a little timing on the rollers.
IIRC you brought the car back and I reloaded the s204 original map and road dyno'd it and then reloaded my map and road dyno'd it again.
There was a clear gain.. I will dig the graphs out..
Then the owner came and collected it from ireland and he was exstatic with the car and the before and after.

Had I known you were just after a peak figure to sell a car I would have recommended we mapped it on the rollers or tweaked it there, but however as you were booked in with a trader you never spoke to me direct. this is one of the annoyances with that trader whom I no longer map for.
Other ring me and discuss what the cars I have to map are and anything out of the ordinary or requests from the owner are passed on.
With your car I would have wanted to speak with you to see what you wanted.

Simon

As long as your on V-power 99ron the ecu's are more then capable of retarding the ignition timing.

Like i said he's a very nice chap ,but on this occasion he couldn't work his magic.

they det, then retard the timing, and then advance it again and det and then retard it again..

your car was detting it's **** off when I checked it beforehand.
it had no det at all when i had finsihed.. probasbly saved the engine long term.
...and what a sweet engine that s204 has too.. love that car

The car was mapped using 99 ron v power as the owner was topping his car up with octane booster.
The standard map had alot of det? i have had a stock S204 since the same day which has no remap and has been run on v-power and has never missed a beat.
I also took the car to pro sport the next day and had it on the rollers and he checked both maps and there wernt much of a difference.

As for obtaining figures to sell a car that's a bit of a stupid comment mate as the car was already sold. I sang your praises to the owner and advised him to let me use you as he wanted to use bob rawle ,but as you had good feedback via SN and you was new to the scene i thought i'd give you a go (i was a new trader once and know how hard it is to establish a good rep).

Cut a long story short i didn't even charge him for the map because there was no difference.

One thing i will agree with you on is TSL ....john's a nice chap but the owner was having a bit of a laugh.

Reason i started this thread mate was to thank Simon as it was my first ever map and wasn't too sure what to expect and that i was happy with the outcome.

Check the IAM and learned knock in your ECUTek software, I'd be surprised if it hadn't been retarding time all over the rev range.

Simon did some work on my car: installed injectors and a AVCR, whilst an FMIC was being fitted.

My regular mapper is Bob Rawle, and as I already had a working relationship with him, I wished to continue to use him to map for the mods I had just had fitted. Unfortunately, that meant a 150 mile drive.

Simon installed a base map on my car to get me there free of charge; it ran impeccably to Bob's.

Says is all really, I think.

JGM is a gent, certainly knows his onions and I would not hesitate to use his services again!
