Yep. It's in the corner, not in direct sunlight, BUT it gets more than what I would like.

Another reason why we have changed/upgraded. The new one sits in the middle of the living room, so not really any direct sunlight.

 

And if you look where i put the fooking arrow you will come to the conclusion what i am asking.

 

It looks very weird,but its actually a fish that is swimming toward you..

Sorry, didn't see any 'arrow'. Spotted a fish on second glance though.
Mine hasn't got any plants in like that. We have a volcano and plants around the bubble tube, so not much going on in there really.

 

Hysteria, look after it? Who is it that cleans the bi-orb out all the time? lol If you go on some of the big fish keeping forums, no fish keeping 'expert' likes bi-orbs. They all slag them off for being too small. One main factor/problem with bi-orbs (in fact all these funky/modern tanks) is the tiny 'surface area' of the water. You can have the tank 6ft deep, but if it only has 0.5m sq surface area your seriously restricted on stocking levels. All good fun, but the smaller the tank, the more maintenance!

Although the small tank/more work saying is partially true.I dont think 20 mins a month is excessive to keep the Biorb clean and healthy..

Agree'd,the Biorb are not for the serious fishkeeper,but can make a nice addition to your home.As long as there not overstocked and the fish arent stressed i cant see the problem..

We have had the odd death over the years,but longevity of life isnt a problem with the fish in ours.The fish seem happy and are active..

I have had bigger conventional tanks over the years,and the didnt take less maintainance,just similar levels..

Most larger tanks take up too much space and can look very chav.. Well presented ones do look stunning,but are few and far between.

I think this site is becoming chav phobic! You can't even wear a cap now if you drive a subaru, as apparently you are a chav. However, i'd rather look like a chav in the summer over a **** head with sunstroke!

Also a bi-orb really isn't designed for fish bigger than neons. Maybe some Zebras or some guppies. BUT unless you have a second tank for all the fry, guppies will just be hassle.
These type of tanks don't seem to be designed with a health environment in mind, but if you keep to your numbers, or just under I find is best, then keeping one is easy peasy.

The neons are the ones that will go in it.

TBH it's more of a design statement than having an aquarium, (Oh dear, flame suit on). That said I do appreciate quality of life and will not tolerate a poor life, no matter what the animal.

Bottom line, it looks funky, it will take me <60 minutes per month to service, and it's a talking point.

 

My tank isn't chav, it's quite tasteful

 

I've bought the 30L (black) one Clarebabes, will fill it with neons (10?), perhaps some shrimp too.

Can't wait :-)

Dwarf Gourami's are fine in a 60ltr Biorb....No problem at all.

As long as you dont overstock,there fine.

 

There is a formula to work out how many fish you should stock it with. Was surprised how few it usually is. My old biorb was only meant to have 4 fish in, so put 4 guppies in. Don't know how many litres that was.....

 

Rule of thumb is 1 inch per gallon, yours is 7, so 7 1 inch fish, or more slightly smaller ones

What substrate are you having? Must admit the bright colours would look good in that tank.

 

We have 6 fish in our tank, 3 zebras and 3 cherry barbs. We did have a bit more variation at one point, we even has one sneaky bugger end up in our tank free of charge. Never found out hat he was, lol!

I find that 6/7 fish for a 30L bi-orb is about the best number, well for me personally.

The other half uses activated carbon in the filter rather than using the crappy service kit, and since we have been using that the tank is so much better.
