Police shouldnt have targets, what if they have to "catch 10 mobile users" that day but only caught seven, you can bet the last 3 were made up cases just so the little ******* can go back to the station for a pat on the back from head piggy, that stinks of pig **** and isnt justice in any way shape or form!

You are all to55ers who persecute innocent motorists fro **** all just to meet targets, when heroion and crack dealers run rife all over the place, but the dealers are harder to catch and provide NO INCOME fro you, where as fining motorists lijnes your coffers and looks good for you ******* "statistics".

WASTE OF ******* SPACE THE LOT OF YOU!
To be fair we have a dedicated drugs unit for drug offences and a lot of our revenue comes from cash seizures from the drugs world. Most traffic fines go to local government and not the police.

We don't have targets to meet at our force, although statistics are published of how many offences are dealt with etc. I work on emergency response and so the only traffic I deal with tends to be done with verbal warnings (depending on what it is and the drivers attitude) but at least i can check to make sure they are not disqualified, insured, drunk etc.

We don't have targets, but our figures will be looked at each month to make sure we are all working, which is fair enough. Nothing will happen if one persons figures are really low, other than checks to ensure they are not lead swinging.

Just for the record, i do thank drivers for stopping, apologise for any inconvenience caused etc - so please don't tarnish everyone with the same brush.

It took a lot of RTMs before anyone took responsibility.

Of course; Super-Moderator will give you an infraction if you call his favourite troll 'pratt' on the 'is calling someone pratt offensive?' thread (where the answer was a resounding 'no') and then theyll abuse the banning rules when you point out how unsuitable they are for the position in a PM.

When they have an obvious troll no one can get their act together though.

Glad to hear that you guys aren't all bad ... my experience of the Police is not good which is a real shame as you tarnish your reputation with every bad experience

I suspect that the police come into contact with 10% of the population 90% of the time and we all know familiarity breeds contempt - on both sides

The last time I came into contact with the police was when they wanted to use my house in London to stakeout the local drugs den - no complaints apart from they left large 2 ltr bottles of fanta in our bedroom – charming otherwise

but i'm sure, like everyone, they have their bad days - human after all

Another dull, pointless SN thread so every dullard can post their bad experience with the police.

How original.
Arrogant to call him a 'dullard'. It may mean nowt to you, but in the real world such interference and accusation means far more.

In fact SAME thing happened to me. I never knock coppers, but it was interesting to meet a bad one for the first time (a 'dullard' if you like). 3am and with a Bluetooth headset on the dash we had a massive row as I'd rubbed my ear as I passed (aka 'made a call'). Now I detest people who use hand-held mobiles when driving so the comedy that followed was priceless and I nailed the kid, but it WAS exhausting and pointless as common sense had so departed the sceneand his mindset. Wouldnt have minded the bickering so much if he'd done the public a service and breathalysed me - I've been photographed far more than brethalysed after all...

Conclusion: a Jobsworth dealing with 'dullards' maybe. Is that the new order for police and policed? No wonder the relationship is effectively over. So sad.

Read the post again. I didn't call HIM a dullard.

You and I are the dullards if what I said rings true.

I had exactly the same thing happen as in the 1st post.

Was told I was seen by officers round the corner on the phone, was stopped, they stood there and point blank told me I was on the phone 3 points £60 fine, I told them straight I was not on the phone. They then asked to go through my phone and they did, then accused me of being on my friends phone, which I was not, they then looked through his phone. As said also, they just said right go on then, we'll let you off this time, but in future it will be instant 3 points and a fine.

I was so annoyed, more than ever as I genuinly was not on the phone. It made me think if they did this to someone else, they might not be so argumentative and just accept it, which would be really sad.

Shocking but nothing can be done.

Feel free to approach my force and look at my stats. Last week I only performed stop-checks on the known Snafs who I know are heroin addicts and those who are known burglars and robbers.

In terms of ticketing motorists or using discretion - if someone is using fog lights when they shouldn't, I flash the lights at them. If someone jumps a set of red lights or exits a road through a no entry sign, I'll speak to them, and if I suspect they've been drinking, I'll breathalise them. I have much better things to do than waste my time issuing tickets as we are about 30% under-staffed. I'd rather be out saving life and limb than dishing out tickets.

I'm not actually set any targets in terms of motorists. My targets are all set on the speed we turn out to emergencies and how my time is spent.

I currently spend 54% of my time responding to emergencies, the rest of is is spent with dealing with the subsequent arrests, paperwork, interviews, CPS time, and general patrol.

I was only there as there were statements and there was also photographic evidence of the ABH he'd inflicted on an 8 year old.

So no, I doubt he was whittling sticks.
