i do like the smoothed , but id be to worried about damaging one . at least with the rivets they just unscrew if something happens (eg your next door neighbour door dinging them )

what kinda £ would you be talking for a wheel n tyre package for 17" to fill these arches ?

On a type R it is quite starightforward, as once cut and welded there is minimal paintwork required.

On a 4 door however there is a bit more work involved on the rear arches once cut and welded..

Has anyone documented how the wide-arched car handles on road and/or track, along with the geometry used? I can see the potential for an all-out track car, but what about a road use + trackdays/sprints?

Also, what tyres widths are people using? Since I already have 2 sets of wheels+tyres, both 8J with 215/40-17 and 225/45-17, I wondering about hub-centric spacers instead of new wheels with different offset. Am looking for optimum handling rather than bling!

Did you get sufficient interest to make the slightly narrower ones for 4-door? Would be potentially interested, especially if bond-on rather than rivets-showing.

Andy

Using 255/35/18 yokohomas and all good, using toyo t1r same size and all good, toyo r888 do tramline a little but nothing major.
Was at the point where car span wheels and went no where at all in the wet in 3rd gear at about 540bhp. With wider tread and pushed on to 665bhp and still had more grip than the previous 215/40/17s.

18x10 et 20 if I remember correct.

you get small amounts of tramlining due to the width but in all the car feels hell of alot more planted to the road

im running 245,40,18s but have gone up to 265s on a recent car i shod

Default Narrower arches for 4dr CLASSIC

Looking back, here's the list of peeps who were interested in a narrower, newage-style arch for the 4-door classic. Please update list if still interested, with further details of car and rivet/bond-on preference :

1. stevey (wagon, bond-on)
2. banny sti (bond-on)
3. Tazman861 (?)
4. ukimpreza (4dr)
5. HRT (?)
6. KrisBuc (?)
7. trails (wagon? bond-on)
8. Andy916 (4dr saloon, STi6, bond-on)

Here's the newage bond-on style http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...s/IMAG0415.jpg

This is about half the flare of the current rivet-on classic arches (I'm guessing 20mm rather than 40mm) so wouldn't need the 10" rims and 255mm+ tyres that some are running. Maybe the 215 or 225's that you already have would work, with a concentric spacer. Maybe this would also be of interest to those with a bit of rust creeping in around the rear arch...

cheers
Andy
