Then why has it been allowed to escalate to the level it has, obviously NL thought it would be a good idea or they wouldent have let it happen let alone welcome it/them with open arms

Well I suspect that it's a combination of many factors; EU expansion, traditional commonwealth links, a belief that we needed immigration to fill holes in the labour market (which we certainly did in some areas), lots of good reasons really. The main problem is that they've just failed to manage it effectively, so in short they cocked it up, I'm unconvinced by the conspiracy stuff though.

I listened to David Cameron today, he was talking a lot of sense about this issue. I fear he may be far far too moderate for many on here though.

David Cameron moderate! Surely he is a little right wing for you. Personally I would have preferred someone with a little back bone as leader such as David Davies.
