As I was saying, what is the problem with a referendum on leaving the EU?

Please explain the problem(s)? Even Billy Liar admitted there was no evidence to support a *3 million jobs depend on our membership of the EU* comment he'd made in support of it. To name just one example of when we've been lied to.

Given you dislike of all things EU you would vote 'no' to virtually any EU related question. Even if the constitution was the right thing to do for the EU you'd still vote no, like i said your position on this is disingenuous

No. What the **** has Murdoch got to do with anything? Sorry, but I'm big enough and ugly enough to have made my own mind thank you. All to do with having been lied to for years over entry and 'enlargement' being good for the UK. Being lied to over recent referendums. No signing off of accounts of the EU for the last gazillion years. etc etc
I'm after the right thing for the UK! End of.
As for being "disingenuous". Do you actually know what the word means? From one source:
1. withholding information: withholding or not taking account of known information
I'm not withholding any information or not taking any into account. On balance my view is 'get out'!
2. not genuinely sincere: giving a false impression of sincerity or simplicity

The problem is that you are using the constitution as trojan horse for a Murdoch lead anti EU referendum. AND YOU WONDER WHY THE POLITICIANS ARE BACKING AWAY?

So to the real issue, should we have a vote on EU membership, well sure, not sure what pretext we are going to do that on.
As you well know ANY EU referendum in this country will be dominated by silly arguments about bendy banana and spotted dick pudding and other EU red herrings. You may well be smart enough to look beyound that (although you claim to of already made your mind anyway), but unfortunately not everyone takes time to consider these issues.
I assume that if the Tories were to announce on day 1 of taking office that they were withdrawing from the EU you'd that?

Well you're certainly no longer being disengenuous becasue you've stopped claiming that you really care about the proposed EU constitution (hence definition 2), and soley interested in us coming out of the EU. So all the false indignation at 'being lied to' was fairly transparent

Never said I cared about the consitution anyway. All it is is a way for the politicians to rachet up control over us. So no idea what the 'false indignation' applies to .....

To answer your rather pointless question, I have absolutely no problem with us having a vote on EU membership, in many ways that would be far better than voting on the constitution, because at least that would be an honest vote, and hopefully put this issue to bed once and for all.

It's not hypocrisy at all. I just 'skimmed' your question and I read that you'd said the Tories would annonce a vote on day 1. My mistake. How can you ever forgive me... ?

Sigh ...... Right. Asd you may have gathered if you'd read a few posts of mine, I would like out of the EU. However, there should be a national referendum on the issue to let the country decide. This would then negate any claims of hypocrisy by the then current government. Unlike previous governments that have said we don't need to ask the electorate because they're too stupid to understand!

I think we would eventually be better off economically because we could run our own economy to suit ourselves. Eu social policies which have been forced on us so far have been pretty poor or even disastrous so far, and should we become federated you can kiss democracy goodbye!
